Nokian Hakkapelitta SUV on 16" steelies from a 2004 Pilot LX. Haven't had much snow this year, but the grip is outstanding. Downside is that they are really loud.

This winter I put on The Michelin Latitude X-Ice2. These are the best of the best.
I can't believe the handling and grip on the snow, slush and ice. The difference is night and day. And when the roads are clear and dry, the smoothness and quiteness of the ride is even better than the Michelin Cross-Terrain All seasons I have. This summer I'm due from new all seasons and since the cross terrains are discontinued I'm going directly to the Latitude Touring...I've heard only top notch reviews on these.

I have been driving the c for two weeks in some of the worse road conditions i have seen in Calgary and coming from a S4 I'm really surprised at how well the 63 performs in slippery conditions. Other then pulling away from a dead stop, it is very Audi like once it is moving. I did purchase sotto zero's which help a lot but ya she is making out ok as a winter driver!

In past winters, never had the real need to go out and get winter tires. The stock Bridgestones did fine.

I'm mixed on winter tires. I live in Ottawa and we usually get a fair amount of snow, however I live right in the city and this city knows how to clear snow. I have 75k on my OEM tires and they aren't at the wear bar yet but I'm pretty sure I'll get a new pair before the winter. I think I'll go with all seasons once again. Maybe I'll get winter tires and put the oem back on in the spring and get another season out of them. I just don't want to store 4 tires year round.
This pic is from 3 years ago. The CRV didn't have winter tires. I took it out right after I shoveled the driveway and the roads were full of snow but the V just went on and on and on. |
