Default new rubber

hi all,
on the market for new rubbers, i would like to know the widest tire i could fit on the oem rim ('06 exl-res 235/70/16) without any problem. based on info out there, majority seems to favor the general grabber hts for the money. is this the best buy? i got a total, out the door price, from a very reputable dealer of $521.62 for 4 grabbers & wheel alignment.thanks in advance.

Post new rubber

hi,
pulled the trigger on the general grabber hts, upgraded to 245's, kept the oem rims. good first impression. definitely an improvement over the integritys. low balled the guy to $509 out the door with (ny)tax, 4 tpms kit, wheel alignment & the usual balancing, valve stem, etc. so far so good... i'll know more this coming weekend. taking a trip up canada (li,ny to toronto) & back.

My 2006 is also in need of tires.
After talking to several tire guys about possible replacements, Cooper Discoverer CTS has been recommended a couple of times. Does anyone know about these and what are they like? They are a relatively new tire about 1 year old and i've been told they are as good as Michelin Lats'.
Thanks

Look into the BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A Touring tire. Bought a set 4 months ago and put roughly 5,000 miles on the tires so far. Goodrich was bought out by Michelin Tire. Got all four for something around 475.00 at Sam's.

hi,
got back from 1k mile trip over the weekend. general grabber is definitely an improvement over the integrity. i would give it an 8 (1-10 scale) for 3 season drive, & value. highly recommended.

i'm looking for new tires myself, as the past storm here in sacramento reminded me that my integrity's are nearing the end of their useful life

i am also looking for a "best bang for the buck" tire, and the 2 i'm comparing are the kumho solus kr21 and the general grabber hts. the grabbers got a higher rating than the kumho's according to the reviews on tirerack.com, and based on your update here, i think they're worth spending the extra $. thanks for the post!

I replaced 684's with Michelin LTX M&S. This Summer I switched to General Grabbers.

We drive at least one 3,000mi round-trip vacation each Summer, so I was looking forward to the comparison with past tires. The Grabbers are quieter than the LTX's. Grabbers have a softer feel both on straights and corners, but even with a loaded Pilot, we never felt like we compromised on safety.

For the money, I'd recommend the Grabbers.
