Question Has anyone considered a lift kit?

I was surprised to find that this forum didn't have a suspension/chassis/brake area. (?) This doesn't necessarily fall under "performance."

Anyways, there's a few 2" lift kits for the Ridgeline. Has anyone considered putting one on a Pilot. The only complication I could see would be the fabrication/shortening of new front sway-bar links. Basically it's not quite a body lift and not quite a suspension lift. It's 4 2" spacers for the struts, but it looks nice and allows for slightly larger tires.

Some have considered it, but there are no kits per se for the Pilot. Technically spacer on struts is a suspension lift. From personal experience, spacer lifts will give a harsher ride. Now if someone could make an aftermarket coilover kit, similar to the IconDynamics set for the Pilot, that would be something to consider!

Are you suggesting fitting a ridgeline kit to a pilot?

Consideing the similarities in the suspension, yes. I would, however, do some careful measurements before purchasing one just to make sure.

I see you own a ridgeline, I think you should be the guinea pig! And if it doesnt fit the pilot, slap it on the ridgeline. After this was your idea right?

I do plan on picking up a lift for the Ridge, and I'll happily check our Pilot to see if it looks compatible. I'm simply surprised that I would be the first to propose this with a platform that is over 6 years old. I won't be putting a lift on our Pilot because, well, it's my wife's.

The ridge line and 2009 share suspension, but it is NOT the same as the 2003-2008 design.

After spending a day doing my wife's brakes and rear shocks, I can answer my own question for you all. I cannot speak for the '09 and newer Pilots, but I can now verify that the '04 is incompatible with the Ridgeline. The front might work, but the rear suspension is completely different. The Pilot has a rear coil spring w/ shock suspension, while the Ridgeline has a coil over strut suspension at all four corners. Since the lift for the Ridgeline is little more than a 2" steel strut spacer, it will not work with the rear of the older Pilots.

This is not to say that a spacer cannot be fabricated for the coil spring, or a longer spring custom-ordered from and off-road suspension shop. The roughly 1" longer shock should be very easy to find.

Thats good to know! Honestly I've come across a few threads on the subject and they always die without a good solution. There doesn't seem to be much interest on a lift. It's funny because just about any other SUV has kits available. The suspension is just another reason to like the 09. If it didn't look so Fugly I'd consider ungrading the 06. The 09 needs a facelift! LOL. Heck we've got a perfectly good 06 so why mess with it I guess, and just like you it's the wifes "car". Just working on a tow pkg for now.

reviving an old thread, I know!

I originally looked into getting a lift for the pilot, then got a jeep wrangler. having researched ALOT about lifts and how different lifts affect steering geometry, I can honestly say its not worth (to me anyway) putting in a 2" puck type lift for a slightly larger tire (for the sake of look - definitely would degrade on road handling - and still unsuitable for offroad use). I even considered a 245.70.16 tire (orig is 235) to fill the wheel well - but ultimately decided against it.
