Default Just got Tripple Treads!

Hey guys,

Its been raining the last few days here in the Bay Area and I still had the GY integrities. Man, those tires suck!! I didn't realize how bad till it started raining. I was sliding all over the place. I was actully scared to drive the car.
Just to see how bad the traction was I decided to play around, I was going like 45mph on this one street and decided to gun the throttle and I lost traction. BTW I have a 07 2WD with 21k on it. In any event after that I went straight to Sears and picked up some GY TTs for the stock rims. The are a very aggresive looking tire. On the way home it wasnt raining so I did my best to find some differences between the stock integrities and the TTs. First its just a little less noisy than the Integrities ( IMHO) but the Pilot did feel more comfortable and sure footed.

On the way home from work today it was comming down pretty good and I decided to test out the tires. WOW!! if I had to pick one word that best describes the feeling is CONFIDENCE! It felt like the rain wasnt even there! A few times just to test, I floored it at complete stops and only got a minor chirp. If it was dry with the stock tires and I did the same thing I would be smoking the tires at a stand still. While doing 20mph I took a right turn pretty hard and gassed through it to see how much the car would slide but it didnt, it just gripped. I'm pretty immpressed so far. lets see how the gas mileage is affected.

Just my 2 cents..

I've had the Triple Treds on my CR-V for about 60,000 miles.

Opinion:
1. Fairly noisy (compared with the typical passenger car tires you can get for the CR-V)
2. Had to rebalance every other rotation (every 12k, roughly) Note that because these are unidirectional tread, 'rotation' consists of a front-back swap.
3. The traction is simply amazing.

Would I buy another set? Very likely. But I'd also look hard at the equivalent Michelins.

They're still on there. This will be their last winter, though.

I'm not putting as many miles on as I've left the job that had a 25 mile commute, so I would guess I'll put another 10k on them. They'll still have tread at that point, but I tend to replace tires before they're down to the wear bars for safety reasons.

That's 70k on a set of tires that come with a 80k wear guarantee, which for me is way better than I usually get out of a set (I have a lead-foot )

wow, thats great, mine came with a 60k warranty. I'm hoping for at least 50k, but who knows....at what point do you think you started to loose traction?

Default Continental CrossContact LX

Just replaced crappy Integrities (still in good codition - just 30 000 miles on them, but simply can't stand them anymore). Got one size bigger Conties (245/70/16). What a difference! Much firmer (GY are rated 104, Conties are 107 - much thicker sidewall), quieter, feels like driving different car. Also replaced rear shocks (one was leaking oil) and installed rear subframe retrofit bracket. Alltogether - fantastic!

Can't go wrong with either one, of course, but the newest Michelins are very tempting. Even the older Michelins Cross Terrains were very tempting because of their lower weight. It's a great time to be alive if you love tires. That sounds like such a ridiculous statement, doesn't it!

Default Dem tires go round and round

I have had a wonderful experience with the Goodyear Fortera TripleTread tires on my 03 Pilot wandering the hills of West Virginia thoughout the four seasons. After these highly recommended tires were worn out after 50000 miles I read in the most recent issue of Consumer Reports the General Tire Grabber tire is even better. I went to a local dealer and bought some before the snow starts to fly around here. They are quiet, smooth riding, grip well on the curves - (all we have are curves in WV). Will test the snow and ice capabilities when I go to Canaan Valley for Thanksgiving. I do not recall ever slipping with the Fortera's so these tires have a lot to live up to.

I put the TT's on my 04' two months ago, wow what a difference. Drove down to WVU to pick up my Daughter for Thanksgiving break. Heading down I ran into some flurries on the Ohio turnpike, causing one truck to jack-knife, the Pilot gripped the roads very well.

On the way at back night-time it was even worse with blinding, blizzard like conditions bringing the turn-pike to a crawl. The TT's worked great as I proceeded carefully on my way even passing slower/stopped traffic. No slipping or slidding was I.

I only wished I had installed amber fog lights to cut through the snow flurries, during zero visability, I only had my parking lights and hazard lights on to see. I've been told that it's against the law to drive with only fog lights on in Ohio anyway.

Overall, I'm very happy with my decision to go with the TT's, road noise is not noticable, the ride is smooth and the grip is fantastic.

Well, which is it? Silent Armor or TripleTreds? It's one or the other but it can't be both.
