Question Tire Sizing

The 03 Pilot tire size recommended is 235 70 R16(Diameter 29 in). I have a set of winter tires that are 235 60 R16. My mechanic suggested that these tires are too small in diameter (27 in)and it may cause issues with traction control, transmission shift patterns, and overdrive performance. His he being too cautious?

What is the maximum difference that I could go outside of the 29 in diameter tire size?

Tire Size Comparison

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/70-16 6.5in 14.5in 29.0in 91.0in 697 0.0%
235/60-16 5.6in 13.6in 27.1in 85.1in 744 -6.4%

I wouldn't do it. If only for the fact that the odometer is going to be putting on miles faster.

If the tires are the same size and not radically different, I wouldn't worry about it. People put different wheels and tires on Pilots all the time that are more different than stock than this. I wouldn't mix sizes though.
