Default Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT

Hi all, tire time! Winter is here, snowing yesterday! I am looking to replase my oem Bridgestones. The local tire store has Dunlop Radial Rover RVXT's on sale. Tire Rack gave good results and I'm looking for anything negative at this point to steer me away from them? Also reading about the 245/70R16's and *may* gamble on them.....thoughts?

All else being equal, a narrower tire is better for winter traction - so stick with the original size.

If you often travel on unpaved roads (and thus could benefit from a combination on/off road tire), get the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo.

Otherwise, since you're in the GWN, the latest generation Nokian WR G2 is an obvious choice. Otherwise, perhaps the best winter traction in an all-season tire is still found in the Michelin LTX M/S.

The RVXT is an All Terrain type tire which for normal type usage is far more truck like than a Pilot needs or does well with. I think you would regret buying them.

I don't see a 245/70 tire on Dunlop's site which raises questions as to age of tire.

There is a 245/75 size which I wouldn't recommend for you either as a size is too large.

Reject this tire and keep looking

Yes like an idiot I checked after posting to find no 245/70's available, so nix that idea. 235/70R16 @ $114 each!
Good thoughts though, more info on what I'm after. I have been a winter tire person for many years. Last winter I went with the Pilots factory tires and it wasn't terrible. So my idea is the old "compromise" and get a GOOD all season tire for all year round. I would put wet/winter traction, wear and noise as my highest priorities.

Pilots are well known for tire noise.

FWIW, I have the Bridgestone Alenza, 235/70-16. They are f100% superior to the OEM GY in wet, snow and handling.

You can't go wrong with the Michelin LTX or Cross Country either. A couple of people here just posted on the Firestone AT which is much cheaper than any of those tires.
