Default Tire suggestions

I am new here, so I hope you don't mind asking.
I have 2006 Pilot and my stock Good Year Integrety is about to RIP.
I need an advice on good tires.
I live in OH so I will have snow during winter time, but Integrety never gave me any issue.
Should I switch to Fortera or stick with another pair of Integrity?

Also, should I widen it to 245?
I would like to upgrade to 17" someday.

Thanks
Naoya

a search of the threads will give you LOTS of opinions and recommendations of replacement tires for the pilot. many hp.org members have complained about the integrities and recommend upgrading but IMO, if you had no problems with the integrities in the past and feel comfortable with them, then stick with them. same goes for width--if you didn't have any problems with the factory width, why order wider ones?

If you are serious about going to a new wheel size, now is the time to do it.

I never had any major issues with the GY integrity tires on my pilot, but I do plan on replacing them next year with Michelin LTX M/S in the stock size. When I used to work on a fleet of Ambulances and Ambulettes, these tires held up much better than anything else we used and they handled well throughout their treadlife.

I push most of my vehicles and learn what their limits are so that I do not drive outside of them. (well maybe occasionally I do). When I owned my 98 Mustang GT Convertible (I miss that car), the GY Gatorbacks were pretty good when it was dry and I drove REALLY slow in the snow and rain. Then I switched to a set of Pirelli P6000 SS, and was amazed in the difference in rain, snow and ice handling. They held the road much better in all conditions for a lower price too.

I agree that if you are happy with the performance of your tires, that you can't go wrong by replacing with the same, but there may be better options out there.

-Mike.

Thanks for suggestions.
The reason why I am confused is I went to my local Goodyear tire store.
I told them that I had Integrety on my Pilot. But they informed me that I should be on Goodyear Fortera because it is SUV.
Then I asked Honda why Integrety are on my Honda since it is for cars and mini vans. They said Good year makes Integrety for SUV, which Goodyear person said that's not true.

Someone does not know their facts...

Due to the OEM GY road noise and shimmy, I installed a set of AVON RANGER for 6 months and so far quite like it on rain and dry. It is quieter and better control, no shimmy. Will see how they perform on ice, snow, sleet and freezing rain coming Dec - Mar in NE weather.

Wider tires will not help you in the snow. The opposite effect, actually. Stay stock, or narrower, if you are concerned about snow traction.

At 40k miles, my wife is already complaining about wet traction on the GY Integrities. I'll have to keep my eye out for a sale on GY Triple-Treds. I have them on my Passat, and they're pretty damned solid.

i believe the integrities are made for both cars and SUV's. aside from the pilot, i have also seen them on chrysler 300's and 1st gen toyota highlanders.

There is no Goodyear Integrity specifically for SUVs. Its the same tire as the car/minivan.

CTOBIO: I too wanted a set of GY Triple-Treds, but the Goodyear sales person informed me that I needed to put on Fortera triple tread instead of Assurance triple tread. I wonder why. I have Assurance TT on my Chrysler Town and Country. Like you said, they are solid, and this tire is awesome.
I had to get use to it first, cuz they were so sticky and sensitive on road. I love them now. I think I will go with triple tread. I just have to decide on Assurance or this Fortera.

Thanks for your all's opionion.

I have always heard very good things about Toyo tires. I have a few friends that work/worked at tire dealers and they all seem to prefer that brand over most others.

The Fortera TT is a tire designed for applications like SUVs. It has a higher sidewall than the Assurance TT, and probably has a higher loading number. Besides, I don't think they make a 235/70R16 Assurance, but they make a Fortera.

I had to play around a bit with my tire pressures on my VW Passat to get the handling right. At the OE spec pressure, the car handled quite badly- it was squirrely and acted up in the ruts in the road, and was noisy as hell. Once I raised the pressure to 35 Front/38 Rear, bliss.
