Default 2003 Honda Pilot new Costco X-Radial

My impressions of the purchase of Costco Michelin X-Radial LT P235/70R16:

1) Installed price $649.77.
2) Installation was very prompt.
3) Warranty 80,000 miles.

Price includes road hazard, rotation and balance for the term of the warranty.

I also received a $60 Costco gift card.

Costco also uses nitrogen to fill the tires vs. air. Refill is at no cost.

The OEM Goodyear Integra's did fairly well for the 70k miles they were driven.
One of the tires went bad after 30k miles but managed to survive until 70k.
Replacement was past the OEM warranty period and the Honda dealer
determined that its continue use did not present a hazard other then rough
handling.

My prior tire buying experience has been with local dealers and with Discount
Tire. Costco has my business going forward.

The tires were purchased in May.

Service after the install is also quite good.

Picked up a 6" nail in left rear tire. Costco had it fixed in less then 1 hour
and back on the road.

thanks for the post, ononcg. looks like a good deal. what are the advantages of using nitrogen rather than air in your tires?

No practical advantage at all. Air is 75% Nitrogen anyway

Car Talk guys cover this fairly well, http://cartalk.com/content/columns/A...bruary/02.html

I live in Colorado so there is fairly large swing in temperature as well as altitude. Going up the hill to ski in winter is ~4000 feet in altitude change.

Those far with the nitrogen fill I have had the pressure checked at Costco only once since May. The pressure stayed constant after driving to New Orleans and back in June. With the OEM Goodyears filled with air I had to check pressure and fill on similar trips over the 5 years they were driven.

I will post follow up on this in fall and winter.
