Default Bonnie and Clyde... I mean Charley!

Floridians get ready! Not sure what is going to happen with these two storms. It appears Charley has changed course a bit and is going to move up through Florida from the Keys and Bonnie will soak North Florida. Hope everyone is hurricane ready. I of course, am not.

Here in NC we had the privalege of getting hit by the first named storm of the season, and we are on track to get hit (not like Florida, though) by the 2nd and 3rd named storms as well. I'm just hoping that we don't get all 13 (or however many) this year.

Stay safe everyone!

Well, here I sit, in NW FL, at my desk -- working! HURCON (hurricane condition) 2 was issued about an hour ago so we kind of thought they'd be telling us to get ready to head to the house (not!). As far as our schools go, they're still scheduled to remain open for tomorrow but we'll see. It's very YUCK outside right now.

Default Not quite the perfect storm

It looks as though they'll just miss each other by about 24 hrs according to the predicted tracks here and here .

Looks like Bonnie will pass to the north and Charley will go offshore to the south of me. My biggest worry is flooding at my store. It's located on Anastasia Island and only three blocks from the bay. In past storms it'll flood about four block back from the bay.

I'll keep a close eye on the local forcasts and tomorrow start getting as much stuff off the floors as I can, then board up my windows, load up my two "company cats" and head home.

Here at the house I've pretty well protected by trees and I'm relatively high so no worry about rising water, even though I'm on a sorta small creek. The problem here is power outages. I'm on a well, so no power, no water! I do have a generator and just checked it. Gotta get about 15 gals of gas which should be enough for a day or so. The generator will power everything in the house except the A/C and the water heater. If I ever get rich I'll have a generator big enough to power those too!

jdean sounds like you have your hands full! We think we are ought of harms way in terms of the brunt of the storm but will have to wait to see what happens after it passes over Cuba. Either way we are on the dirty side of the storm and we are expecting lots of rain and wind. What kind of store do you have?

Here's hoping everyone and everything gets through it okay. jdeanski has a bicycle shop, IIRC.

Up here in Orange Park (just south of Jacksonville). Looks like we will get some bad stuff Friday night and into Saturday early morning. I really feel for anyone near the Tampa area.

Latest projections put Charley coming ashore near Tampa then passing slightly to the west of us and Jacksonville. We'll just keep watching the weather....................
