My husband is a Tennessee born-and-bred mechanical engineer, a graduate of Univ. of Tennessee, and a southerner with a sense of humor who should be able to ACE your exam, Older than Dirt!

Too funny. That exam could apply to most southern states. For what it's worth, my dad, who is from TN, went to UT and was an engineer at NASA and then TVA. My mother holds a graduate degree from UT. I, also from TN, hold a graduate degree from the George Washington University in DC. I guess that there are some "smart" people to come from TN. I always love going back to Knoxville, but only to visit, and of course for football games. Go VOLS!

Default Sing along, you hear...

Wish that I was on ol' ROCKY TOP,
Down in the Tennessee hills;
Ain't no smoggy smoke on ROCKY TOP,
Ain't no telephone bills.
Once I had a girl on ROCKY TOP,
Half bear, other half cat;
Wild as a mink, but sweet as soda pop,
I still dream about that.

(Chorus)
ROCKY TOP, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me;
Good ol' ROCKY TOP--
ROCKY TOP Tennessee.

Once two strangers climbed ol' ROCKY TOP
Looking for a moonshine still;
Strangers ain't come down from ROCKY TOP
Reckon they never will.
Corn won't grow on ROCKY TOP
Dirt's too rocky by far;
That's why all the folks on ROCKY TOP
Get their corn from a jar.

(Chorus)

Default OTD

That made my day. Oh, how do I love my VOLS. Nothing like watching the VOLS run through the T for the first game of the season.

Not to worry! My husband--the transplanted Tennessean who's now an honorary Marylander--will take no offense.

However, even after 30 years "living among the Yankees," he does still take those Tennessee Vols very seriously. If it involved poking fun at the Vols, I'd think twice!
