During class, Mrs. Smith said, "Children, today, we are going to learn words that end in "ate". I want everyone to say a word that ends in "ate" and use it in a sentence. I'll start off to give you an example". So, she says, "Delicate. The petals on flowers are delicate".

She then pointed to Alfalfa and he said, "Intricate. The artworks at the museum showed intricate patterns". The teacher then turned to Buckwheat and he said, "Dictate. Hey, Carla, how my dictate?"

The teacher saw a note with these words written on it: "Fe Fi Fo Fe Fi Fo Fo" She looked puzzled and asked the class if anyone knew what the note meant. Alfalfa raised his hand and said, "Yeah, that's Buckwheat's phone number..."

Emily Sue passed away and Bubba called 911. The 911 operator told Bubba that she would send someone out right away. "Where do you live?" asked the operator.

Bubba replied, "At the end of Eucalyptus Drive."

The operator asked, "Can you spell that for me?"

There was a long pause and finally Bubba said, "How 'bout if I drag her over to Oak Street and you pick her up there?"
