Unhappy Help With Low Cylinder Compression 95 Accord

Guys - while my wife gets the pilot, my DD is a 95 accord with 225k on the clock. It sometimes runs a little rough but generally OK and now needs some AC work. Before sinking a lot of $ in it I checked the compression.

While consistent between cylinders it is very low across the board (95-110 psi). Haynes manual for this engine specifies

Std 178 psi
Min 135 psi
Max variation between cylinders 28psi

Can I continue to drive for an extended time at such a low compression or do I have a time bomb?

Thanks
Matt

Are you sure your gauge is reading correctly?

Any other symptoms?

N_Jay - I would assume that the data is good (maybe I shouldn't) as it was done at my neighbors repair shop. They did check each cylinder twice.

The car is low on power but I can't remember it ever having much. The MPG has always seemed low to me for such a small engine (26-30). I also notice under hard accelleration that there sounds like a loud air leak coming from the engine compartment. Overall it seems to idle and drive like I would expect a high mileage vehicle to.

Thanks
Matt
