Yesterday, my son started up his 2000 CRV. He shifted into reverse and started backing out of the driveway. Then when he tried to put it in either neutral or park - the transmission made a loud grinding sound. If it stayed in reverse - no noise. He turned the engine off and restarted it and it ran and shifted fine. Drove it the rest of the day with no problem.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Thanks - I'll give them a shot
Problem hasn't resurfaced - I've never seen anything like it in any car I've owned.
