Just for fun on a Friday...
What's the most miles you have ever put on a vehicle, before you got rid of it or it simply finally died? Both current and/or something you owned in the past. To be fair lets agree replacing or rebuilding the major components (engine, tranny, rear end) kinda disqualifies the vehicle for this discussion. (You can keep anything on the road if you dump enough $$$ into it). Maintainance items (water pump, brakes etc) are OK. For my, it's actually my current vehicle. - 2000 Nissan Altima - 201,000 miles and still doing OK. btw. for my fellow Canucks, to be consistant, multiply kms by .6214 to get miles. |

98K on a '91 Honda Civic DX 5 speed manual (sold in '98 to get the CRV). Replaced the front rotors/brakes twice, one set of rear pads, CV axles (torn boots), couple sets of tires and a new muffler. The igniter was replaced on TSB (out of warranty), after it quit leaving my wife stranded in a busy intersection. Honda paid to have the car towed and fixed.
We keep our cars for a pretty long time, just don't drive all that much, usually get the bug for something new around the seven year point. Currently have 98K on the '98 CRV, two sets of front brake pads, couple sets of tires and a new motor mount. Original rear pads, NO other repairs. We did put in a new timing belt and water pump. Paint is getting pretty faded but it's been turned over to daughter number one (and is therefore no longer my "problem") and she loves it (other than the paint). |

198,000 on my 1990 Ford Taurus LX.
Replaced the front tie rods, brakes, air conditioning compressor and the tires (oh, and the entire front end from my showdown with a deer in central Wisconsin. Both the Taurus and the deer lost) during my time with it. Definitely was a great and reliable car for me...

Our '03 Pilot had around 64K miles on it when we traded it in. This is slighly lower than our '89 Civic we sold with about 67K miles.
We're wimps compared to all you six-digit odometer drivers!

Most was 235k miles on an 83' Saab 900T. That was a great car. Roomy, good mileage, and pretty fun to drive. The engine/turbo was all still original and running strong when the front suspension fell apart and I didn't want to put the money into fixing it.

155,000 miles on my 1985 Volvo 740 GLE, no major work needed.
My 1988 Mercedes has 129,300 miles on it now, and it's still running strong and in great condition (but that mileage is nothing considering the car is 20 years old).

1981 Honda Accord- totaled in 1992 with 125,000 miles on it.
1976 Toyota 1/2 ton Hi-lux pickup sold in 1991 with 135,000 miles. 1991 Honda Accord Wagon gave it to the daughter and son-in-law who, traded it in 2000 with 135,000 miles. 1985 Chevy Suburban traded it in 1995 with 136,000 miles. 2003 Honda Pilot 95,000 miles and still going strong. I am going for 200,000 miles on this one.
