Mercedes at the bottom for reliability. I guess the owners can afford the trips to the dealership.

Since I am talking about German cars, there's a doctor where I work who has a Porsche loaner almost every other week. I guess his 911 Turbo vert has its share of problems. When he doesn't drive that, he drives his 360 Modena (I think that's the model..).

It's just a bit surprising. I think CR calls it like they see it, as best and as honestly as they can. But this is almost shocking. I don't remember them extolling the virtues of an auto manufacturer anything like this before.

Better be careful when you talk about Consumer Reports. According to stlblues: "If you believe consumer reports, your an idiot."

Of course we are ALL entitled to our own opinion. Oftentimes it's better to not keep re-hashing what was discussed in a previous thread. IMO

Funny, but my experiences have been just the opposite. It's uncanny how many times my wife and I have embarked on a major purchase (appliances, audio, video, etc.); we shop around, do our research and make a decision. Then the next month or two later, CR publishes ratings on what we JUST bought!! And the item (or something close) is highly rated. This happens to us almost without exception. It's a running joke between us.

Oh yeah, and we're almost always pleased with our decisions, long term.
