Looks like Honda won't pursue plug-in hybrids.
Later, Larry.

Good.
I hate when good companies get behind stupid ideas. We can not afford to have any significant portion of our transportation energy needs on the electrical grid. Electric cars, are electric cars, and calling them "plug in hybrids" does not make the idea any better!

Plug-in hybrids are not a viable option in this country at this time. We do not have the generation capacity to support this on any real scale. With the construction of the first new nuclear plant in the planning stages and a few projects to expand or update generating stations just starting, it will be years before this becomes viable. Then, throw in the age of the distribution systems in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, there is a lot of upgrading to be done. In most of the US, the infrastructure should have been end-of-lifed years ago.

Stupid ideas are rarely good for the company long term, and when they are good short term, all they do is train the managers to make more stupid decisions. Hey, I worked for Motorola, I have a PhD in watching upper management make stupid decisions!
