Personally, I have no use for such a vehicle. But I've been seeing a few of these around town lately (always in blue) and I must admit it is strangely appealing in a utilitarian sense. Something like 18" wheels and clearance that appears to approach a HMMWV. Priced in the low 20s, I can see the 18-24 demographic really falling in love with it. Maybe one more reason Toyota is kicking domestic @$$ up and down the product lines. Too early to tell, but I predict Toyota is going to sell a $#|+load of them.

Streangely appealing... no doubt.
They are very hot and not available on the lots for less than $30K. There are some specifc challenges that accompany this vehicl: 1)The C pillar is ginormous and does not encppurage good rear/ side vision= big blind spot- kinda like beer goggles. 2) The spare tire occupies a decent amount of the rear window space and in turn offers limited rear view ability. These two issues offer the "18-24" crowd the best opportunity to get into an accident. In regards to offroading ability- not bad. You can stuff 37's in there with a little modification, but you still have the IFS. If you can live with the vision issue and also the Saturn style 3rd door have at it! Anyone remember the Isuzu Amigo... |

Hard to tell, since I haven't been inside one, but yeah, the visibility seems to be very poor all the way around. And it's not surprising that they're hard to come by and selling at a premium.

Wheels and tires are P265/70R17. Same size and tire as on my 4Runner. They seem to be selling well up here also.
