Default Mufflers

I need to replace the original muffler on my '96 Acura Integra GS-R.

I've checked around and found that I have two options... go with an OEM muffler from the dealer (~$360 with installation) or go with an aftermarket muffler at a smaller shop (anywhere from $250 to $290 with installation).

I'm leaning towards aftermarket, since I want to save money and don't think I'll be keeping the car another 150k miles.

So far, the two muffler brands that the shops have been offering are Walker and Bosal.

Anyone familiar with either brand?

The Walker muffler would be from CarX (any experiences with them?). The Bosal muffler would be from a small locally owned shop.

Walker has a big plant about an hour from here in Harrisonburg, VA. From the Walker website there is an original equipment fitment for your Acura from Walker.

I first heard of Walker 30 years ago when I had a summer job in college, as a stock clerk in an auto parts store. I'd have no issues going with a Walker muffler with that fitment. I probably wouldn't go with their universal fit muffler, though.

Walker started out in 1888 under a different name, making springs for horse-drawn farm wagons. They became Walker in 1908, and in 1969 were bought by Tenneco, a major automotive supplier.

CarX would use the Quiet-Flow muffler, which is considered their OEM replacement line.

Do you recall anything good/bad about their mufflers?

I don't recall anything in particular. I have a positive disposition toward them, and would not have any issue with putting a Quiet-Flow muffler on one of my vehicles. Conversely, I'd never heard of Bosal and had to google up information on them.
