Default Thinking of getting an Acura...

Well, my time w/the Pilot is winding down somewhat. I have 51K miles and have owned it for 3 years. Because of fuel costs and lack of overall need for an SUV I am probably going to be switching to a car. I am not a fan of the new body style of the Accord AT ALL. In fact, I like the Civic body style better am not planning on getting one of those.

I really like the Acura TL in terms of value. Drove around a BMW 3 and was not blown away w/ the interior and what you get for the $$$. The drive/handling was great though. Also have slightly paid attention to the Passat, Maxima, Audi.

The new TL is an awesome car and full of fun gadgets... I had a 2002 and hated it witha passion, but then I dont think mine was right from the begining, I was impressed with Acura service though, its nice to sip a latte and fresh cookies while you get your oil changed :-) wonder what the cookie allowance is in the price of the car, but it shure made for a nice experience at the dealer for service

In that segment, the Infiniti G35 is the best bang for the buck. Good performance, upscale interior, and less sticker shock. I have two friends and a cousin with G35s and they all love them. The TL is nicer on the inside and performs well, but it's is less balanced and sporty because it's FWD. I just can't help but feel like I'm in a dressed up Honda Accord, but a friend of mine who owns one loves it.

The 3-series is, well, it's the benchmark for luxury sports sedan...but it costs more, and they really stick you for options that are standard on the TL. I don't know anyone with a new body style, but a friend of mine owns an E46 M3 and it's just a scary fast demon.

Reading back through this post, I get the feeling that I'm living through my friends' cars...I guess that's the sacrifice of a family man.

Don't know that I'm a really good judge. Just got rid of our '01 Accord for an '06 TL. Wife still has the Pilot. The TL's a really good cruiser, but it's no match for the niceties of the Pilot. There's no match for the RES on the TL, though (short of a multimedia laptop or screens in the headrests).

After 4 Accords though, the TL is certainly a step up.

if you are looking at the midprice sportluxury sedans, try the lexus IS250 or even better IS350. fit and finish is better than the other cars you mentioned and priced competitively. engine reliability and owner satisfaction is unmatched. the only drawback is a small backseat which is less compared to the others because of a massively supportive front seats. the luxury package even boasts of a heat and "cooled" seats

The G35 and IS250/350 are both excellent cars, in fact everyone I know that has one of these or the TL loves them so your in good company if your looking in this range.

M5 would be nice but Im in the same position as jcantanixon as a ...poor man servant, but love the family!

Default Might want to look at the Audi A3

Nice little package with the avant body style. The 2.0T engine is very nice. My pilot gets about 13 mpg city and our 2006 A4 with that same engine and the CVT tranny gets 18-19, so nearly 50% better gas mileage.

I know audi's have had spotty reliability ratings in the past. We've had our A4 since November with no problems. Of course we only have about 3,000 miles on it. We chose the A4 over a Jetta / tC / Miata.

If you need a car and are concerned with reliability go with the TL or any Acura, Honda or Toyota. Stay away from anything European and that Korean stuff.....and I'm not real wild about any of those second tier Japanese manufacturers either.

I have an 05 Subaru Legacy GT.

- AWD
- Turbo 250 HP
- Japanese Reliability

I love it, owned it a year and it's been fantastic. It's FAST, I mean really fast. 0-60 in the mid 5's and quarter mile low 14's.

It's also great in the rain, snow and fun on the twisties. It's a great cruiser on the highway, passing is a breeze.

I LOVE our Pilot, but look forward to driving my Legacy.

both acura tl and g35 are long on the tooth and may be redesigned anytime soon. the lexus IS250/350 and the bmw 3 series are both fresh models for 2006. lexus have an elegant look in their interior vs the bimmer. exterior, I prefer the old IS300 look but the new IS is getting better. if you want a cushioned ride vs the sporty ride, that's for the IS. gas mileage, I guess both deliver the same gas mileage. a fully optioned IS or bmw, it would cost more for the bmw. gadgets and electronic design, that would go to the IS. hope that helps.

I owned 3 Infinitis before getting the Pilot and they were GREAT cars. Never had any problems, drove awesome and the customer service was great. But I agree w/ another poster, that the G35 is long overdue for a redesign. I would end up getting one and the new ones would come out 5 months later which would make me unhappy. I am going to call the dealer and see if they have any information. I really like the body of the Lexus but haven't seen the inside. Need to check that out too but think it might be a little too small. I know that the Audis have really improved, a lot of people are buying them down here. Size is an issue w/ the A4 and the A6 is too expensive.

NO, that's TSX, not TL. TL is only sold in North American and going to Asian this year.

Although TSX is Japan/Europe Accord, the interior is totally different.
Euro Accord has interior of North American Accord. TSX has it's own more up-scaled interior only sold to North American.

Alexandra242628:
If you are buying a TL, should wait for end of the year as TL is coming with 3.5L 290HP+ for next model year.

Or, TSX is a good consideration if u don't mind a little less power which actually handles a little better than TL IMO.

Still miss my TSX.

Also, RDX is just around the corner.

Is that a CF/SD slot in the dash? A integrated CF/SD mp3 player perhaps? Now that would be sweeeeeeet!
