Default Back from one trip - ready for another!

I got back Monday afternoon from a 8-day and 4,300 mile motorcycle trip to the right coast. I'm getting closer and closer to riding in all 48 contiguous states having picked up Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island on this trip I still lack New Jersey, Delaware, North Dakota and Louisiana.

This trip was to attend Honda ST owners event in Cobleskill, NY. I had pretty good riding all the way out - up until last Friday evening when it started raining and pretty much never quit until I was back as far as Ohio on my way home Sunday morning. I did manage a 1,000+ day Sunday and then finished the 775 miles on home Monday (in record heat).

I'll try to post a few pictures later.

Next Friday we head out on a trip to Jasper in the S2K (along with three other roadsters). Should be another GREAT trip!!!

Sounds like a great trip. Did you go on your own or catch up with some other riders on the way?

Pretty much on my own until I got to New Hampshire and then I hooked up with a couple guys for the ride back to Cobleskill. From there home by myself again.

Did you hotel or camp it? How did the bike perform, and can you compare it to the ST1100 for such a long haul?

At 1000+ one day and 750 another, he didn't do either, he just kept riding!

Seriously, how did you manage 1000+ miles in one day. I did a 1250 mile trip once but I was in a car and my wife helped drive. I can't imagine doing that on a motorcycle and then to do another 775 the next day. Wow! Averaging 75 miles per hour, the first day is 14 hours and the second day is 11. Your butt must have been numb or you've got a great seat.

Glad you had a great trip. Please post pics. Enjoyed the last trip you posted. And thanks for continuing to hang around.

Ha!!!! Not sure what happened, but I did do a spell-check, but must have missed the last button to update. (-:

My longest single day was something like 1242 miles in like 18.75 hours - on a ST1100. I never did a 1,000-in-24 on the Wing, but did a couple on my R1150GS when I owned it. I've done about a dozen on ST1100's and two back-to-back on my way back from visiting my daughter in Largo FL (when she lived there).

I stayed in hotels this trip (getting soft, I guess).

I still think the ST1100 is the long distance champ. It has a slightly longer wheelbase and less rake, making it more stable at interstate speeds.

The 1300 did well, but I think there is MUCH more heating coming off the engine than on the 1100.

This is not taking ANYTHING away from the 1300. It has many advancements that make it a VERY nice LD mount.
