I attended a four day fitness/nutrition workshop 4 yrs ago, @ that time everyone was raving about creatine. The key speaker was not in agrrement then with the popular belief that creatine actually aided in building muscle mass. He said that creatine was basically a protein supplement not unlike the others that have been on the market before it. He also stated that if all you want is to supplement your diet with protein you're better off using powdered skim milk mixed with skim milk, it's way cheaper & it's pure protein without additives.

Definitely not competitive...I would need to cut up more for that. I have more of a football player/wrestler physique. I have been weight training since I was 16 (I am now 32) and I worked in a really hard-core, metal and iron, concrete floor gym during my last two years in college (besides the iron and concrete, we had one treadmill and one stationary bike....they were still brand-new when it closed down).

I have seen a lot of bad things that a person can put into their bodies to propel themselves past their genetic potential and have also seen the results of just a few years on that bad stuff. I have kept away from that and opted for the all-natural path. If I had not, I could be much bigger than I am now and would lift much heavier weight than I do now (and would probably have a lot more problems than just tendinitis). Nineteen/twenty year old guys in my gym are lifting some insane poundage and you can tell that they are not doing it naturally, but they live for today not thinking that someday they will be in their 30's or 40's.

I have a genetic make-up that allows me to gain weight easily, unfortunately not all of it is muscle, which is why I am on a low carb diet right now. Brings down the fat to see the definition, but also lowers your strength. I should be on this diet through the new year, then taper off. Lots of Whey Protein, red meat, fish poultry, vegetables and fruit. Once in awhile I will allow myself whole grain bread with natural peanut butter. Every meal has some form of protein and I stay away from white flour, white sugar and white potatoes as a general rule. Once a week, I am set loose to keep sane eating whatever is in my path. Went from 222 lbs to 208 lbs in six weeks.

You should have more energy, not less, on the low carb diet. Perhaps you're not eating enough fat. The fat will be used for energy in place of the carbs. That is the cornerstone of the Atkins diet.

I do have more energy, but the release of water retained to help digest complex carbs and my lower consumption of these slower burning complex carbs saps my strength. I do consume more water to keep hydrated, but there is a noticeable difference in strength between when I am on the diet and when I am off the diet.

That is why your endurance increases when taking creatine....the water retention aids performance.

Here's another tip......

[qoute]Labatt Sterling has 2.5 grams of carbohydrates and 88 calories per 341 ml bottle. According to Labatt, premium domestic beers have between 11 and 17 grams of carbohydrates and 130 to 145 calories per 341 ml bottle, and most light beers contain between 6 to 9 grams of carbohydrates and approximately 110 calories.

"This is our early holiday gift to beer drinkers," says Nigel Miller, director of public affairs for Labatt Breweries of Canada. "We're launching Labatt Sterling to appeal to the growing number of people who are looking for a beer that fits their lifestyle, but who are also looking for something that tastes great and won't compromise their New Year's resolutions."

Labatt Sterling is designed to appeal to consumers following low-carbohydrate programs
[/qoute]

I may have to stock up on these in case production ceases after the holiday season.

Great thread. I'm heading out to the gym tonight as a matter of fact.
What I don't understand is why anyone would want "6 pack" abs when you can have the WHOLE KEG ab like mine (please not "ab" singular because it's one big muscle )

If the new Labatt Sterling will not be available in your area try Michelob Ultra.

Tried and Tested: Michelob Ultra low-carb beer

Can a low-carb beer taste good? We find out...
It's finally time to raise a glass to low-carbohydrate diets. For years, followers of Atkins and other low-carb regimens have had to steer clear of beer in an effort to maintain their carb minimums. Now Michelob has made enjoying a drink while following a low-carbohydrate diet easier, with its launch of Michelob Ultra, a low-carb, low-calorie beer. A 275-ml bottle contains 2.5 grams of carbohydrates and 88 calories. That's way below comparable bottles of Stella Artois (9.2 grams of carbs, 117 calories), Grolsch (8.4 grams of carbs, 114 calories) and Smirnoff Ice (26 grams of carbs, 177 calories), according to Michelob.

For all of you guys/gals purchasing pills and other vitamins. Go to http://www.easypricematch.com/ after you have found the cheapest price online. All you do is tell them the cheapest price you found, and give them the URL and they will beat it by 5%! The only thing bad about them is that it took 3 weeks to get my pills, but it could have been just the pills I got were not in stock or something. Good luck with them and you guys should probably share the best prices you are getting with each other.
