Slow loading site - Honda Pilot

Has anyone else experienced hondapilot.org loading slow? I noticed it last night and then again tonight. I figured that late at night it should be screaming fast as not many members are loading at the same time. I am using Comcast and just did a test to make sure it wasn't my connection. I got just under 3MB per sec. and also checked other sites with lots of pictures, which loaded with no problems. It almost took the thong thread 30 seconds to load last night

and about 20 seconds to load a reply to another thread tonight. Any thoughts?

BTW, just as I went looking for this section (Computers & Home electronics) the pages all loaded very fast.....go figure. I guess it's like going to see the doctor or dentist

Based on the time of your post, it's possible that the server that the site is hosted on could have been running some sort of automated process.

If the server is located in the Central Time Zone, it would have been midnight.

Could be AV scan, system backup, automated software updated such as SUS, or any number of maintenance tasks.

We typically schedule our server's automated maintenance tasks closer to the 1-2 am time, but every server is different.

Personally, I haven't experienced the same thing that you have, however, I wasn't on at the same time. Anyway, my best guess is maintenance.

It was pretty slow for me an hour+ ago (as was acuramdx.org, which is on the same server), but it's lightening fast right now.

I didn't have an opportunity to check any other sites, though, as I was doing a monster upload to Ofoto (200Mb++) along with VoIP overhead on this line, so I just attributed the speed to that. Maybe not.

Maybe the server's slamming on the brakes when it sees your flashing lights

Also another thing that has been bothering me about this site the last month (give or take a week). I only noticed this strange thing because I use my back button so much and some times it would stay on the same page. Well then I noticed that when I click on some of these threads I find the address ad.doubleclick.net/adi/n2965.HON

I mean I guess if it is helping the site make money somehow without it intruding on my computer I guess that's fine, but I have heard and my spyware reports that doubleclick is spyware. Anyone else getting this?

For some reason it doesn't happen to me every time, but a lot. From the new thread screen, click on a link of a thread, give it 30 seconds (sometimes right away) and then click on the down arrow to the right of your back button (these instructions are for those that don't understand what I mean). It should be the first one listed.

Speaking of spyware, have you done a sweep for spyware lately? The slow loading and the redirect to doubleclick could be the result of spyware on your PC.

Update your ad-aware and spybot-seach & destroy software and check your pc for spyware. Also, to protect your pc from future spyware, I find spywareblaster software (freeware) a very effective tools to have.

Yea, I ordered a book last Monday afternoon but haven't rec'd ship notification yet.

I think the Doubleclick thing you're seeing is the Honda Ownerlink ad loading. IIRC some of the banners Daniel has approved are managed through there.

Yep, I use both ad-aware and spybot-seach & destroy and also Webroots Spy Sweeper. I almost always find a few spyware files using all three programs.
