Default Looking for an easy to use website authoring tool

Calling all website developers-

I want to create a website. Nothing real fancy. I am no programmer and don't have nor know how to use tools like frontpage or hot metal for example. Don't laugh, but I am looking for the simpler tools out there to use. What can you guys recommend I look at? Thanks!

I built and maintain two sites on the web, my work's website and my scout troop's website. I'm no progammer either - but I find Frontpage pretty easy to use. It's a lot like Word.

And like Word, it has tons of features I never use, but the basics are pretty easy.

If you are a user of standard Microsoft programs, then FrontPage 2003 is probably the easiest to get started.

If you want something easy and free, try Mozilla Composer. It's a free download from Mozilla.org

It's far from being a 'full featured' tool, but it will get the job done.

Here is a tutorial if you're interested

I use Frontpage 2003, and it is pretty easy to use. It has a template feature that makes creating a nice looking website a snap.

Before you get too far in, I would give some thought to the features you want on the site.

Sites like this one are best designed around a "CMS" (Content Managment System) rather than an authoring tool.

Take a look at
http://www.opensourcecms.com/
For some cool systems.

Frontpage 2003 is very easy to use even if you never created a website before. I agree w/ fireflock, give Mozilla composer a try. It's very basic and it's free.

Send a message via AIM to mixxmstrmike
Default Frontpage...

I use Macromedia products and do not recommend them for your criteria. I have to side with the others on this thread and go with Frontpage. If you have used MS Word, then you'll have no trouble using Frontpage.

Good luck...

Thank you all-

I will visit the content management system site and will begin with downloading Mozilla Composer. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy of Frontpage. Can anyone point me to sites that I can download animated gifs for website use with the copyright burden? ---Duane
