Calling all website developers-
I want to create a website. Nothing real fancy. I am no programmer and don't have nor know how to use tools like frontpage or hot metal for example. Don't laugh, but I am looking for the simpler tools out there to use. What can you guys recommend I look at? Thanks!

I built and maintain two sites on the web, my work's website and my scout troop's website. I'm no progammer either - but I find Frontpage pretty easy to use. It's a lot like Word.
And like Word, it has tons of features I never use, but the basics are pretty easy.

If you are a user of standard Microsoft programs, then FrontPage 2003 is probably the easiest to get started.

If you want something easy and free, try Mozilla Composer. It's a free download from Mozilla.org
It's far from being a 'full featured' tool, but it will get the job done. Here is a tutorial if you're interested http://www.thesitewizard.com/gettingstarted/

I use Frontpage 2003, and it is pretty easy to use. It has a template feature that makes creating a nice looking website a snap.

Before you get too far in, I would give some thought to the features you want on the site.
Sites like this one are best designed around a "CMS" (Content Managment System) rather than an authoring tool. Take a look at http://www.opensourcecms.com/ For some cool systems.

Frontpage 2003 is very easy to use even if you never created a website before. I agree w/ fireflock, give Mozilla composer a try. It's very basic and it's free.

Thank you all-
I will visit the content management system site and will begin with downloading Mozilla Composer. I'll see if I can get my hands on a copy of Frontpage. Can anyone point me to sites that I can download animated gifs for website use with the copyright burden? ---Duane
