Problem with live update... - Honda Pilot

My antivirus will not "live upgrade" !,what could the problem be,it used to work fine.I even opened the firewall to see if that was blocking it but it's something else.Should i remove the program and then put it back in ?,i'm confused,please help.

Do you have xp pro/home w/ sp2 installed? If you do, check the os built-in firewall.

What anti-virus program do you have? And do you mean "live update" instead of "live upgrade"? It sounds like you have Norton, if that is the case your subscription may have expired. Also, you might want to actually disable the firewall before "updating" to new virus definitions. If all else fails, you can un-install and then re-install the program.

I just updated my virus definitions this morning, but I don't ever use Live Update.

Go to www.symantec.com if you have Norton products and take the Download tab. Continue through the links for Live Updater, New Virus Definitions, etc. and get the new file.

I first started doing this when my Live Update did not work. Subscription is still required for this.

Apparently, Symantec updates the definitions daily or almost daily.

You need a subscription for the live update. One is included for a year when you buy NAV. I had a similar porblem, I had some norton 2003 porducts installed. tried to use NAV 9 ce, but it woulld nto live update, turns out the 2003 products were killing the liveupdate. I unstiall all norton stuff, put back on what I wanted and the liveupdate now works.

Otherwise do as Vellinga suggests download your self.

i found that norton doesnt update fequently enough for my tastes. i set it to automatic and every once in a while i would update manually, and there would always be like 300k worth of updates. i got a free 1 year license of panda platinum 7, and i prefer that much better to norton. everytime i check it, its already updated.

Thank you all for the replies,my system is a ME and the anti-virus is thru Norton,the wife actually updated the system manualy,i do have a subscription and it worked fine untill recently....

.I think we'll erase the program and then load it back up see what happens then.

I have been having the same problem with live update for norton ever since I installed SP2 pak.. I also upgraded to Norton 2004 professional.. Not sure which it is the is interfering will have to do some homework..

gopilot - My husband manually change the default settings for the XP pro sp2 firewall on my laptop because of conflict w/ Norton 2004 AV Pro.liveupdate.
