Why replace the explorer.exe as the default shell?
Because there are other options? Really, found time to play around with some explorer shell replacements and came across Serenade (http://www.courtah.net/). I have been "experimenting" with alternative shells off and on but found my initial experience with Serenade promising in terms of stability on my laptop running WinXP Home. Not a whole lot of "themes" to download but a "minimalist" theme looks good (http://www.skinbase.org/section.php?sections=serenade).
