Kinda hard to provide a direct answer. Depends on what software you are using. I have burned CDs with CD Creator and Nero. Generally, I use .wav or .mp3 source files.

What's your error?

If it's buffer underrun then you may need to drop down the burn speed.

Default ...and...

What operating system are you using?

Did the CD writer come with the PC or did you install it later?

Have you checked for Windows updates, updates/patches for your burning softerware, and driver updates for your CD writer?

Does the drive work normally for just playing CDs?

I use Nero. I originally used the wizard program within Nero, but since I burned so many, I no longer need the help.

Basically you have you music in an MP3 format, within Nero find that music and drag the songs to the left panel within Nero. Once you accumulated all the music that your CD can handle, burn it.

If you don't have any 3rd party software (Nero, Roxio, etc.) to burn music CDs...

And if you're running, say, Windows XP as your operating system...

Then you can also use Windows Media Player (which comes with XP) to burn a *.wma file onto a writable CD.

Go to File ===> Open... to choose the song you want to burn:

I'm running an older version of Windows Media Player in my screenshots (version 8, I believe) and I'm using oldies music as a demo...

From the menu, choose the "Copy to Audio CD..." menu option:

I select the song that I want (in this case, just the one song) and then hit the "Copy Music" button and let the software and hardware do its thing...
