Default Earthlink cable via TW-RoadRunner?

Just "swtiched" cable internet provider from RR to EL (although hardware is still RR's). The price was just too hard to resist ($29.95 first six months, 41.95 thereafter). If the service doesnt work out, I guess "switching" back to RR would be an option. A little websearch reveals some problems with the newsgroup feeds and some "speed" problems. EL does throw in some freebies including free dialup and 8 email addresses. Would like to hear from members about experiences with EL cable internet, anecdotal or otherwise. Thanks.

I have been on EL via Timewarner for almost a year on the plan that you are on.

No problems so far, I am very pleased with the service and the speed. It sometimes bogs down with heavy traffic but otherwise I think it has been great.

We did the switch from TW to Earthlink (on same self purchased hardware). Aside from changing e-mail address, the process was seamless and saved money to boot. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Default Earthlink on TimeWarner cable

I used to be on RoadRunner on TW Cable, and also had a dialup account with Earthlink. Realized I could subscribe to Earthlink broadband on TW cable and get the dialup included, and save about $3 per month. Did the switch about 8 months ago and am quite happy with the results. You're still riding over TW infrastructure up to a point, but then get routed to Earthlink's infrastructure. I had to switch cable modems when I did the switch, since Earthlink uses a different channel (81 I think) than RoadRunner on the same cable network.
Just received a notice from Earthlink that they will charge me extra for dialup use in excess of 20 hours in a month. But for me, that's no biggy ...
Only had one problem after switching & signing up with Vonage for IP telephony service; they were throttling back my upload speed to the point where it was affecting my phone service. Took lots of calls to tech support, but they finally acknowledged their mistake & I now have ~360 Kbit upload speed and ~2 Mbit download - problem fixed!
