Default Nero vs Roxio EZ CD Creator

Is anyone out there able enough to compare these two products. If so, please mention what version you have experience with or knowledge of because they both came out with significant upgrades recently. Thanks.

I used both Nero Ultra Edition v.6.3.0.3 and Roxio Easy Media Creator v.7.00. My preference is the Nero because it's easy to use and very fast on Windows 2000 Pro. The only thing I like about the Roxio is the addition of PhotoSuite 7 Platinum and Videowave 7 Pro. The Roxio is very slow on my PC and I don't know if its because I'm using Windows 2000 Pro as my operating system.

I have used both and really prefer Nero. Roxio has a lot of eye candy, Nero is very simple and quick..

What versions? What do you mean by "eye candy"?

Windows 2000 is not inherently any slower than other versions of Windows. You may have a configuration issue. Be sure to enable DMA in the Device Manager for your disk drives and CDROMs.

I did not say that Windows 2000 sp4 is slower than any other OS. In my judgement, Roxio has a compatibility problem with my OS. I think there is still some bugs that Roxio needs to iron out with Windows 2000 sp4. I contacted Roxio in regards to my problem and up to now I never got a response from them.

I have used Easy CD Creator for a long time (4 years) until I got my DVD burner and decided to get Nero. I have heard great things about Nero but was hesitent to use it becasue I already knew how to use Easy CD. I have been very impressed with Nero 6 and it can be found for very cheap ($10-15). I have burned about 30 DVDs (+r,-r,-rw,and +rw) without the first coaster. Nero also works with a lot of three party software that is useful for DVDs.

Windows 2000 can be slower than other operating systems if you do not have enough memory, of course that is true for all operating systems.

Nero...Nero...Nero...

I know you already ordered it and I am sure that you will love it just like the rest of us, especially once you get that burner....in about 6 months

Default Don't mean to threadjack,

but the one think I liked in Easy CD Creator was the ability to extract audio files to the hard drive and save in MP3 format. I haven't been able to find this capability in Nero. Anyone know if this capacity exists in Nero (btw, I have Nero Express v6).

TIA

NeroMIX is an add-in MP3 utility that works with rest of Nero Ultra. Unfortunately it is an extra cost.

That makes sense. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll stick with my older version of CD creator (version 4) to do my mp3 conversions.

I just found where you can get Nero 6 OEM edition which can be updated for free to the Ultra edition (several large downloads) for $7.99 with free shipping. This is a great deal becasue most places want at least $15. Depending on what version of the OEM software you can get the MP3 encoder is free as well.

Here is the link to the website to purchase.

Here is the Nero site where you can update.

bubbafett, thanks for the link. I may consider this.

BTW, anyone experience problems with InCD? I'm running on a Dell 2400 with 2.2 GHz P4, 756 MB RAM and XP Home. Intermittently, when I log off an account or shutdown, the InCD GUI (Graphical User Interface?) doesn't terminate properly.

I'm a little confused why it is readily available for so cheap elsewhere and they are selling it for $69.99 on their site.

I'm used to discounts on the web but not this much.
