Thumbs up Blocking Ads on the Internet without Ads software

I know many of us having one problem a movement we using our computer these day, the Ads keep on an on PopUp all over your screen and before you know it, it hang your computer due to the popup ads taking away your memory and your computer resources. We spend $ to buy a popup software still useless and there are too many vendor out there, but they are updated when the vendor it self update their database so the ads still getting onto your computer.

Well, why not stop spend $ on these software and do it yourself? all it take is 1 minute and there will be no more Ads popup on your screen until you see some ads popup, update your ads database again and the ads will go away for good.

Here is the link: http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers

Good Luck

Uh, why not just use the popup manager in some of the latest browsers, whether it be Netscape, Mozilla, or my personal preference, Safari.

I use Google's toolbar. It blocks popups very well. Plus it adds a nice search/highlight feature

The Yahoo toolbar has a pop-up blocker also.

The google toolbar works great - however I can't tell you how to "allow" a pop up...

Try the toggle switch under Options, then Accessories. It's just a checked or unchecked box.

There's also a way to "whitelist" websites so that pop-ups at certain sites won't be blocked.

I just started trying Google's method now so I'm no expert. The first time Google blocks a pop-up it itself sends you a pop-up with some explanation and a link to a tutorial.

what I like about panicware is that I can press <control> and at that time it will allow popups....so I dont have to enable / disable it for say one website

I don't know much (read: anything) about these different software options, but what's an example of a pop-up I would want to read?

Mozilla Firebird works great for me,

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/

has popup blocker with opt-in feature, lets you add extensions such as "Flash Click to View" which blanks out all those pesky Flash ads and Adblock.

I agree with PaulV7, the Google bar works great and I've heard the Yahoo bar works about the same.

I've got a button on my Google bar to indicate the pop up blocker status.

The mouse pointer flashes when Google is blocking a pop up too. So if you are on a site where you need to see the pop up, just press the blocker button to change the status to "site popups allowed".

Yes, and while you're on a website, say for example, cnn, you can press the number blocked button to "whitelist" that site so that pop-ups will always be allowed on that site. Oh, I think tim s. just said this same thing with a cool pic.
