I've owned quite a few different printers, both ink-jet and laser, and I'm most impressed of late with the Brother models.

Bought a Brother HL-3070CW about 6 months ago for $230. It's reasonably fast and I'm still on the original ink even after about 2500 pages. I got tired of flushing my money down the toilet buying inkjet cartridges every few weeks.

After a lot of research, I picked-up a Konica (Minolta) 1690MF a couple months ago for about $180. A couple requirements including cost (and cartridge cost), included having a flatbed scanner (preferably with a feeder), and networked (didn't care about wireless). Brother had a couple decent models, and HP has been in the business a long time, but when I saw the Konica for that price, I pulled the trigger.
Still on the original cartridges, but did purchase some 3rd party as a backup (again a lot of research went into those, and for $60 for the set, we'll see).
Have had a few paper handling issues when using card stock and some old labels, but nothing has jammed and 500 or so pages later, I'm very happy (so are my kids, who probably print 75% of what runs through that printer).
Does take 10-15 seconds to warm-up, but easily prints 5-10 pages a minute at a good quality (even on the eco-settings).

Well if you are looking for a printer that has reasonably priced ink cartridges, you should look on EPSON printers..but i do suggest HP Officejet Advantage 4500 All-in-One since for me it is cost effective in terms of being a multi tasking printer.. it has almost everything that you need..

I like the Brother MFC printer scanner fax copier that I have at home. We use thd same units at work. For under $400 depending on model it's proven to be a good reliable workhorse. My current home unit is going to my new office and I'll pick up a wireless version for home.

Ditto on the Brother color laser printers.

We've go two different models on two different desktop computers in our house. Both have run flawlessly for as long as we've had 'em.

Good choice you made there! My company actually upgrading to that model and HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP4025dn Printer.

I'm an IT servicing a lot of Laser printer, those small versions are very reliable, the bigger Color printer seem to have alot of issues with jams and are being cause from using generic toner, most of the issue are causing from generic toner, lot of time we had to throw new toner away.

Go with Brother. Newer HP's are junk. A friend of mine who services all brands of printers for a living tells me he makes his living off of fixing HP's. He uses a Brother as his work printer.

I recently bought an HP LaserJet Pro 100 Color MFP M175nw.
Got a good price for it direct, less than $250. Don't ask.

It replaced our aging Brother MFC-6800. It served us well. But it's monochrome, and the prints are not that clear anymore. Could be because of the cheap toner replacement? Or the drum itself needs to be replaced.

Anyway, back to the HP. It has everything I want it to be. The only thing it doesn't do is fax (who else do that? And I'll keep the Brother around for that), and auto duplex (you have to do it manually.)

Some features I like, and will be using:
- Color laser
- wireless (b/g/n)
- eprint (awesome!)
- Airprint (from iOS devices)
- copier
- scanner

Cons I read about it:
- slow - I don't care, it's for a low-volume home office setup
- expensive toner (cost/page) - remains to be seen. As I've said, we're not a high volume use. The price we got it for is just right.

I can print from my HP Touchpad, without installing anything. The touchpad saw it right away, and can do print screens and PDF documents that you downloaded.

Can print from iPhone too via AirPrint.

Eprint is awesome. The printer has it's own email address (just register and sign up). Anywhere you are, you can print into it using the email address. Tried it, and it works!

It's Google print capable too, but I haven't tried it yet.

Just sharing my experience. I'm not a salesman. LOL.
I'm happy with it so far.
As to the reliability, the jury is still out.
