Default Home back up

And for my next trick....

I've got a WD home backup that plugs into each PC individually...but its a pain in the butt to move it around and do whats necessary.

And easy to forget.

Anyone tried the HP Mediasmart set up? Or something similar?

I've been looking into getting a Mediasmart server. Seems like a great product and just waiting for the prices to drop. Was originally planning to build a Windows Home Server box since I had a couple of extra harddrives, but seems the HP version would be more engergy efficient (not to mention more compact).

I run a home built Windows Home Server.

It works very well.

Good point. You can network all your PCs together and use one to back up all your files. Downloading MS Synctoy and using Windows scheduled tasks will allow you to automate the backup. No cost out of pocket unless you don't have a router (wired or wireless) and network cards in each PC.

I want all computer files. That seems to be more tuned into to being a home dv storage and playback.
