I have a Toshiba laptop - 1 year old running Vista. All hardware was compliant using Microsoft's own upgrade advisor. I installed Win 7 Home Premium.
I upgraded software using Toshiba's Win7 upgrade advisor. I installed the Win 7 CD and it locked on "Checking Compatibility" I left it for 2.5 hours in case is was really taking it's time checking and went out and raked leaves. Came in and no change so I called Microsoft. I got through to a live person in less than 5 minutes. He was from New Delhi and named "Andre". He was a very nice young man. He had me, using the MSCONFIG command, unload everything my laptop normally loads. This did the trick as the install went flawlessly after. He stayed on the line for 2 hours the install took and we shared many stories about our respective homelands. Initial impression? Subtle but nice differences from Vista. Any other stories?
