A little late, but my wife gave me a Slingbox PRO for Christmas and I finally installed it last night. It works very well if you have a true 3G phone or WiFi connection on a capable* phone/PDA or laptop. Depending on which model Slingbox and how you set it up, you can remotely watch all your cable TV channels independent of what the home viewer is watching. The biggest drawback is that whatever TiVo programming you're watching (recorded content, live TiVo, integrated DVD) remotely will also be what the home TiVo viewers are seeing. I may experiment with a media server with TiVo Desktop to get around this limitation. Another limitation is that only one remote viewer at a time can be watching a stream. This latter limitation is not shared by HAVA place-shifters that allow multicasting--I may look into them next.

*Sorry, Jay, doesn't work on iPhone and MurrayW reports here that it doesn't work well on AT&T's 2.5G EDGE network.

I get enough TV at home, decided a while back that I wasn't interested in a Slingbox. I've seen others watch theirs from PCs or Treos, and just am not all that interested.

I probably listen to XM more than I watch TV. The only downside is that I can't get that on my iPhone either, like I could with the Sprint Treo or AT&T Blackjack or Blackberry. The crosses we bear!

That's funny, my TV & TiVo at home have been taken over by 3- & 5-year-olds so I'm using the Slingbox in order to watch TV and TiVo on my laptop and phone when I'm at home and on the road. I usually see more TV when I'm sleeping in hotel rooms on the road than I ever to at home any more. Now I hope to be able to pass the time when I'm stuck in airports as well. The crosses we bear are quite different it seems!
