Default Do You Have a Laptlop/Notebook?

Got a new product I want to test market to see if it is of any value and benefit. I made a set of palm rest pads for notebook/laptops. Material is a soft leatherette vinyl with a removable adhesive on the back side. It is approximately 1/16” thick. Thick enough to provide some cushion for the palm and thin enough so that you can close your notebook when not in use.

Looking for testers to evaluate and post a review to this thread.

If interested, send me a PM with the following info

1)Size of pad you need for your laptop. Just measure the space to the left and to the right of the mouse pad.
2)Make and model of your laptop
3)Your name and address

I think it's a great idea. My laptop has scratches on the left palm rest from my watch. I've got a 17" Dell, so the pads would be pretty good size both width and length.

No need to send me a test set, I've gotten enough freebies from you (sticker and tshirt). What do you think they'll cost if you start producing them?

Sounds like a neat idea Wilson! Do you think there is a remote chance that the vinyl will out-gas and leave a residue on the monitor?

The caution I would give is that they might touch the screen. If you close the laptop and put it in a backpack (or something similar, the screen can flex from outside pressure. I have two friends with the same model of Toshiba laptops, and both have developed the same pattern on the screen right opposite the touchpad area because of this issue. Of course, your pads are padded, but it could still be an issue. I'm assuming it would vary from application to application, but it might be worth considering.

i think that's a great idea. I always have the palm rest area with heavy wear mark after a year of using it.

Mine (a Sony Vaio) has a bunch of informational labels on both sides of the touch pad. I don't want to cover them and I don't want to remove them and lose them. I think my hands tend to slide a bit in those areas anyway, so I don't know if I would want something "grippy".

Just my 2¢.

All of mine are Dells [3 with different O.S.] Will your pads keep them from catching fire?

jcantanixon - PM your address. Not looking for buyers, just testers.

colorider - Thanks for pointing out a potential problem. I have not seen any problems thus far on my notebook. But, the pads have only be on there for a week.

ecsw - Send me a PM if you are interested in testing.

krygny - The palm rest pads should function the same as the ergonomic pads on the market when using a desktop with a standard keyboard. The idea was to hide scratches and wear and provide some comfort to the palm.

jrinjax - I don't understand your question....

PM sent.

I think jrinjax was making a joke in reference to the Dell battery recall. There's a video going around the net showing one of them catch on fire. Of course, the joke can be updated to include Macs since they're being recalled as well.

<edit> of course someone posted a link to the video just seconds before I made this post
