Default Vonage or something similar.....

Wow, it's been quite some time since I perused the threads. Got a question....can I use Vonage with DSL? I currently have Verizon DSL, but I want to 86 my phone service with them and just keep the line for my DSL. Also, I'd like to hear any opinions on Vonage or a similar product. Thanks.

IF you DSL is pretty stable and your up and down speeds are good then Vonage might be a great solution for you. The highest setting is 90 kbps. I tried that combo about 1.5 years ago and stopped, my wiring was just too flaky so Vonage didnt have much of a chance. I finally got Comcast to pull all new fiber through my neighborhood and Im back with Vonage. They give you a lot of great features for 25 a month. There are still random dropped calls, and some echo on cordless phones, but very minor compared to what what I experienced a while back.

If you do go with Vonage they now offer the free Motorola router when you order direct and the first month is free. If you know someone that is a current customer and have them submit your email they get 2 months free. That s a nice deal for you both. Also they just added 5 countries in Europe now for free, they are unlimited and treated like local calls. Check their website for details

Overall I am very happy with the service and features I get for 25 a month. That is about what I paid in Telco TAXES with Verizon...
