After posting, without success, a problem with my new 40" Sony LCD Bravia television on several a/v forums, I figured I would see what the always helpful members of hp.org have to say.
Here's the deal: Picked up a 40" Bravia on Friday. Looks great. . . .except. I have horizontal ghosting (not true ghosting, but the kind like you saw with a pair of rabbit ears in the old days) running up the screen, bottom to top. It happens when television is paused through Tivo. It happens on live tv It happens when playing a dvd. It happens when playing a recording made prior to when I got the tv. The digital cable comes through the box, to the tivo and from there, through an s-video to the set (I know, I know, but I need the tivo to keep the wife happy and this will have to do until the hd tivo comes out this year). The DVD is connected using regular rca cables over a pretty long 25 ft run. I'm planning to upgrade to component (my stereo equip and dvd aren't hdmi). I'm wondering, though, if I have a bum set. I thought at first it was just the crappy dvd connection. But then I started noticing it on regular tv as well, even when paused. And my television is about 2 feet from where the cable enters the house. It's a very, very short run. So I don't think I should be getting this. Thoughts? Suggestions? Offers of help to pack this thing up and bring it back?

Sounds to me like it could be the TV since the problem exists from two different sources. You may try bypassing the Tivo and run the cable directly to the TV and see what happens.

Thanks, I did an online chat with Sony today. Seems like I have a bum set. Which I'm not happy about.
