Default Anyone own a shuttle computer?

Best Buy is selling a Shuttle XPC G5 2095. It one of these small format cube style computers. Originally $999 and now under $700 with 160HD and a TV tuner, it seems like an excellent buy. But not sure of the performance and reliability. Anyone have a shuttle computer?

A buddy of mine has owned one for a couple of years, and it's been steady, as far as I've heard.

I never owned one nor do I know anyone who has, but I think they're highly regarded among geeks.

My friend who has one isn't a geek per se, but he's into Doom and such, and configured it as a high end gaming machine. I recall that he bought his online from either the manufacturer directly, or their online reseller.

Shuttle's claim to fame is the small format cube type of computer. They're popular among gamers because they're portable. You can take them to LAN parties. (Not sure what it means. I'm not a gamer)) From what I read, Shuttle mainly makes barebones types of computers, where you have to install your own hard drive, memory, etc.

In the last few years, they started to compete with the big boys, Dell, HP, Gateway, Sony.

If I get the Shuttle, it will be to replace my Sony desktop.

I own them and I have a few at work too.

I am a computer tech/purchasing for 8 years, I think my word would count.

For any of the cube computer in the market, Shuttle is the best.
They might not have the best driver support, but the design inside the cube is the most tech-friendly. Everything is very easy to take out and install and board is usually very stable due to the very best cooling design of the processor.

Any other cubes on the market like the one from MSI, Asus, Soltek or the barebone case offer by Antec might have a bit better looking outside, but the cooling of Shuttle is always the best. I have other brand of cubes die on me way before Shuttle would.

Shuttle used to be a motherboard company that design motherboards and all that like ASUS. But they can barely get into top 10 motherboard menufacture in Taiwan. The company decided to focus on making mini computer cubes and they succeed big time. Among computer guy, Shuttle is like the top of the line cube computer. The biggest motherboard company ASUS finally found out there is a big market of cube computer and decided to get in. But it's really a bit late. Asus sure have nice quality, but the experience that Shuttle have accumulated is way beyond any other company can catch.

I hope that helps.

^ Now I made myself sound like a geek.

Really, most ppl I show the shuttle cube to, a lot of them decided to spend $100~200 extra for the same spec computer to get Shuttle instead. Expecially all the black one, they are just very nice.
