Default Spamis

Anyone else (or everyone) get spam from this guy?

Not that I would advocate violence, but being as a quick Google gives you his name and location, I am really surprised that he still has two good knees! (if you know what I mean.)

Does Gmail filter, or do you just not use that account many places?

If you cant look at the filtered mail, then are you sure you are not loosing anything?

gmail dumps all the spam into a seperate folder so you can go thru it if you want.

My comcast.net account is always full of spam, gmail does a better job at filtering.

My Yahoo account is now set to delete the stuff, so I never see it, but don't care.

I occasionally look in my gmail spam folder just to see if there's anything of value in there; there never is.

I use gmail and get virtually no spam but then again, I answer surveys and respond to questions via my hotmail account. When asked if I am interested in "fishing, bowling, cars, etc etc, I answer NO!. I am very unsociable according to these surveys.

My big trouble is with Cox Cable. I set my junk filter to the next to the highest setting and was getting flooded by mail that was not even addressed to me but had things in the CC line like Davis01, Davis 02, Davis03 etc. and I'm NOT a Davis! Had to set my filter to the highest level for them.

Have two hotmail accounts for junk (now, didn't know back then to not answer questions about what you like) Also use them for business like when I bought a house through Wachovia bank and was soon flooded with mortgage offers (just bought one, why do I want another?)

Have one hotmail for personal use (seldom used) and two gmails, one for personal and one for stuff like Honda-Pilot.org (is there anything else?)

Like I said, spam is mainly from two accounts I answered questions to and Cox Cable.

I'm currently in an active job search. The economy is good, there are jobs out there for which I'm a good fit, I apply on line and follow up with resumes and cover letters, and I hear nothing back. Not even rejections. Sometimes I feel like "Hello?!! Is there anybody out there? Was there an earth extinction asteroid or nuclear holocaust I missed?"

Summer can be a tough time, alot of people away on vacation, things quiet down until September rolls in and people get focused on what needs to be done until the holiday's arrive. Submitting resumes online is great provided your resume gets read and/or gets thru whatever filtering system may be in place looking for keywords and such. Post up some specifics and maybe someone here may have a lead for you, can't hurt to try, seems to be enough of us NY-er's here!
Good luck on the search!

I was doing the same last spring. Some advise...try to get numbers of people to call to follow up on..online submissions are difficult... only way to get yourself noticed is by a person to person contact....

see if you can join some job clubs...great for networking and getting contacts of people in companies... best of luck

Default Thanks for the advice

I've got a pretty good network going and I should be OK, EVENTUALLY. These things just take time. Last time I was down-sized/right-sized/optimized/outsourced/$#!+canned, between multiple interviews and negotiations it was almost 5 months from the time I first expressed interest in a position and the day I started. I just wonder, if someone has a need, how can they take that long to fill the need?. But they do.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled topic: SPAM
