Default Mp3 To Wav Problems

Hi there folks,
I'm at my wits end. Every time I burn mp3's to wavs (to listen in the car or at home, and even on my desktop). I get these annoying popping skipping sounds towards the middle end of the disk. And it won't even play the last couple songs! No problem with wav to CD burns. I have tried burning on 3 different burners too. I use Nero burning software. One of the disks that I had problems with, played fine in my friends car. Anyone have any suggestions?

Default Try this

Try to burn at the slowest speed(s). Also, try not to do the conversion from MP3 to WAV on the fly, but rather create the WAV file(s) first and then write them onto the CD. Also, I would not do anything on the computer while you're doing this. I've found that when I'm creating a music CD from MP3s, and working on the computer (surfing, word doc, photoshop, etc.,) it tends to bog down the CPU and I've had actual drop offs in the WAV file that's being recorded. (This really depends on how much you're working the CPU and RAM resources) I then had to go back and covnert the MP3 file first and record them onto CD again. I hope that makes sense?

Hope this helps,
Mike

yes it does, just never did it before. Only thing on this computer I don't have a stand alone mp3 to wav converter. At least I don't think I do. On my laptop that crapped out I had all that stuff. Back in the old Napster days. Those were the days. sniffle sniffle

Default I've had real good luck with

dBpowerAMP Music Converter. Try a google search on that. I think it's free too. Also, I think winAmp may also have an MP3 to WAV converter, but it's not as intuitive to use. Not recording a WAV file on the fly is cumbersome, but it can provide a better sounding file.

Good luck,
-Mike

Default sound tool?

so there may be a couple of things happening. If you can afford the space on your hard drive, boost up the frequency of the sample rate of the conversion to around 192khz. You may be hearing the result of a low sample rate.
I have a convertor from the Creative labs Nomad MP3 player I got for my Daughter.

If the pops don't go away, you may have to find a tool on teh web that allows you to edit your MP3 or Wav files, such as cooledit pro.
It's not sold anymore as cooledit cause the company was purchased by Adobe and they want a bunch more for it. Search around on the internet. Some of the hack sites have the s/n and user name that will give you full functionality. Cool edit will do the conversion of just about any sound format to another.
I've used the tool to remove cursing from a song ( for a slide show in a church) and to remove pops and hiss from other music.
Good luck,
Zanzarista.
