Default Wiring RG6 coax

Trying to finish up my home wiring and have been having difficulty with the RG6 coax compression connectors. I borrowed the tools (stripper and compression tool) to do it from a friend, but couldn't quite get the hang of it. Anyone know of any good books or online resources that I could check out with instructions on how to do different wiring jobs?

What is happening, or what is not happening?

I bought one of those stripping tool once and found it worthless. I use my trusty old pocket knife, read the directions on how much to strip off, use "twist in " connectors and use a crimping tool.

Are you folding the braided shield back over the outer jacket before you install and crimp the connector?

Well, that works well enough until you have 40 ends to strip... The pocket knife gets old.

I found a little stripper tool at Radio Shack that will work great. Going to give the connectors another shot tomorrow. I think I was stripping too much of the outer black plastic away (I made the mistake of not researching the method online and trusting the overly-simple advice of a friend).

Thanks everyone.

Well I finally got everything all wired up. I found a video on the web where a guy showed exactly how to strip and connect the RG6 compression connectors. Once I watched that and tried it myself... piece of cake. The compression connectors are *nice*.

Any chance you still have a URL for that video? I'd be interested in taking a look.
