Default digital cameras

I know this has been discussed before but there are new models out there so I wanted to get fresh opinion.

Looking to buy a new digital camera. Probably looking for good optics...already have couple of canon cameras so was looking at Canon...how is the Powershot S60... thanks

Don't have much imput on your question, but have you seen how cheap the 5 megapixel cameras are getting?!?

Can't go wrong with a Canon, by the way.

Wise decision regarding good optics. We traded in a big 4MP SONY with a bigger lens for a more portable small 4MP SONY. While it's nice to have a small camera that you can take everywhere in your pocket, we definitely noticed a difference in picture quality. Can't wait to see pics of your new RX-8 or Mustang in the Spring!

Do you want a compact camera as well?? If so, I would suggest the Canon S500 (or an older S410).

We've had a Canon A80 for a year now and it has performed flawlessly, with good pictures and acceptable video.

The Canon A95 is out, with higher megapixels and more features (I think). Can't go wrong with these Canons.

Don't know about the S500, and actually have not used the A95. One of the guys here at work has the A95 and really likes it.

When we did our research, it looked like the A series had newer technology than the S series and was lower priced too. That sold me on it.

about a month or so ago, dell ran a special on digital cameras. I picked up a Sony - W1 5mp camera with the big 2.5" display for about $220. I didn't need a new digital camera, but at that price, I couldn't pass it up. It has the Carl Zeiss lens also.

My vote's for Canon all the way. We have an A80 and my buddy has the Rebel SLR, which is really great.

I bought my dad a Canon A80 last Christmas.....he loves it.

I just bought myself a Canon SD300 (4 mp). Small, good weight, big screen and the pictures are nice.

You can find reviews here:

Steve's Digicams

I just received a Fujufilm FinePix S5100 as a gift, haven't had time to even try it yet. Best feature is that is has a 10x optical zoom.
