Well, now that spring is here, and camping season is about to start here in Michigan, I thought I'd warn local people to stay away from Walt Michaels RV center. Around 2-3 years ago we bought a new pop up camper from them. What a nightmare. After the first trip in it, we found a few bugs and took it back to them to fix. As we pulled into their drive, the propane tank on the front fell off. Imagine if it came off going 65 mph. Long story short (for the tank anyhow) I found out from talking to the manufacturer, that installing the propane tank is part of the dealers prep. The brackets come in a kit and are assembled by the service tech, who obviously screwed up. Then there was a problem with some trim interfering with set-up of the camper. Then, the fridge did not work on electric. Only battery and propane. They gave us a date it would be ready. Two weeks after we droped it off. We went back that day, and were told they had not looked at it yet. We had a trip planned a few weeks from then, told them we were rather unhappy, and left it yet again. We waited a week, called them and were told they had not looked at it yet. We waited another week, called them and were told they'd call us that afternoon. They didn't, so we called them. We were told the fridge needed to be replaced, it was defective. They said it would be ready in a few days. Needless to say, we called them 4 days later and were told it wasn't done. We told them we had a trip, we needed it and we were going to take it as is so as not to cancel our trip. We picked it up, took it home to get ready for the trip. As I was getting it ready, I was poking around in an outside access panel to see if I could figure it out. And........"what's this? A plug just laying there" I followed it, and surprise, surprise, it went right to the fridge. IT WAS NEVER PLUGGED IN FROM THE FACTORY!!!!!
Talk about stupid service techs!!! It sat for almost a month at the dealer and THEY couldn't figure out it was not plugged in. MORONS!!!! It took me 5 minutes!!! So, lousy service, not to mention the sales people, who will rob you if your not paying attention. So, I'd advise to stay away.

Unfortunately your experience is not unique. I've had numerous RVs, have 2 now, a slide-in pickup camper and a 25ft trailer, and have always said RVs are for do-it-yourselfers because you'll NEVER find a competent dealer. They are usually even worse than car dealers in the service department.

Too true. This particular dealer, I have heard soooo many complaints about. The kicker, there is a place about 10 miles from my house (which I have heard some good things about) vs. the place I went, which is about 30 miles from home....
