Default My sons hockey tournament rant

Well, here is my rant about this past weekends tornament. We spent the weekend away at a tournament. My sons team (6-8 year olds) made it to the semi-finals on Sunday. They lost to a team that cheated....and had the officials on their side seeing as they were more of the "home team" than we were. The other team was knocking our kids down, hooking, checking etc. The refs didn't notice it 90% of the time, but our kids pushed the other team 3 times and were called on it all 3 times. One of our guys was face down on the ice hurt, the refs kept the game going until the other team got a goal 30 seconds AFTER the kid was down motionless on the ice. The other team was after our star player, knocking him down at least a half dozen times, with the parents on the other team yelling "get up sissy" and "c'mon ya baby, get up". It's a KIDS game, 6-8 years old, gimme a break!!! It was the WORST officiating I have ever seen. Goober and Cletus need to learn how it's done. Well, that's my rant......and the pic is my son yesterday after we got home.....notice the salt from all the snow......I washed it last night..all better now...

Nothing like Massachusetts hockey dads...

Get into a squable? Just let one beat the other one to death at the rink....great image for the kids!

Aren't sporting events meant to be a "game"?

Don't forget the Mass Mom who ran her town's league teams - she strangled one of the other players......

That's what I thought. I told my son they may have lost, but they played an honest game....and that counts more than winning by cheating..

Under these circumstances, I feel more sorry for the other team. Your son learned a lesson about honesty.

As a soccer coach (U10 girls), I know that the kids look to the coaches and the refs to make sure things are 'fair' and 'right'.

Have to say, my son had a great coach. He's the only one in all the games that wasn't going nuts and yelling at the kids. He didn't coach by fear....

The way some parents and coachs act, you'd swear it was for the Stanley Cup...

Frustrating maybe. However, this will be one of those priceless moments between you and your son.
