Default What is Your Favorite Wine?

After noticing that there haven't been any Wine & Cooking threads on this site, I thought I'd round out the discussions by inquiring as to the favorite wines of Pilot owners (we can talk about more than just cars, can't we?).

Do any Pilot owners out there enjoy wines?

I personally prefer red wine. My favorite at the moment is the Rosemont Shiraz, from Australia. It's a good value (usually around $12 a bottle in NYC) and a consistent product, much like the Pilot. It's also very versatile and can be served with lots of different kinds of foods.

Red

I prefer red myself. And I also like the Australian wines. I have tried that Rosemont Shiraz and it is very good. I also like the Greg Norman wines, the Cabernet Sauvignon is excellent!

Bin#444 Australia is very good too, a little more expensive.. Not sure if you get B.C. wine in the states, but you should try a wine by "Grey Monk, Latitude fifty, white. Really good wine..

I love wine and Honda's!

More Info

1999 Penfolds Bin 128 Shiraz Coonawarra
The use of the French Oak rather than American is obvious here. Nice berry and spice nose but not displaying any of the Coonawarra capsicum, although the 128 doesn't usually show this all that much. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced with more spice with medium-fine tannin backbone before a good long finish. This is the pick of the 1999 Penfolds for me, and for others who were also tasting.

Default Australian Reds

I'm a bit suprised that all the responses so far have discussed Australian Reds. I have always enjoyed Aussie wines, and they are somewhat popular, but I thought that there's a whole world of wines out there to discuss, and I didn't expect such a strong showing. Anyway, I have tried penfolds before and I'm going to make a point of getting the 99 bin 128.

Cool thread Evergreen,

No particular favorite... just had a nice 98 Sterling Cab with dinner, to wind down after a long week. Thinking about heading to basement for a Silverado Merlot.

Beringer's White Zinfandel.
Hmmm... Good idea. Be right back.

Default I can't help it!

I've been watching this thread for 3 days and still haven't seen my favorite wine so forgive me in advance, but here's mine:

"My gas tank sloshes too much in parking lots"

Again forgive me to anyone who hates their gas tank sloshing, and forgive me to any wine lovers for taking the thread OT, but that's my favorite "wine."

Very pleased to see a wine thread. Thanks Evergreen

Has anyone tried Charles Shaw cabernet sauvignon? I've yet to try it. Trader Joes sells it for for $1.99. Yes, that is 199 cents. Cheaper than a gourmet coffee. Even for cooking that's a bargain.

current favorites are -
2000 Raymond Napa Valley Reserve Sauvignon Blanc
2002 Brancott Reserve Sauvignon Blanc (New Zealand)
2000 Seghesio Old Vine Zinfandel
2000 Cline Zinfandel
1999 Clos Du Val Napa Valley Cabernet
2000 Francis Coppola Diamond Series Blue Label Merlot
1998 Domaine Carneros by Tattinger Brut Cuvée Sparkling Wine
Anything by Navarro
