Has anyone treated their taste buds to a bottle of Brunello? If not, and you're a fan of reds, give it a taste. They can, however, get a bit pricey (but well worth it). Brunello wines come from the area around a small town called Montalcino in the Tuscan region of Italy.

Another really good red, from the same type of grapes, but a younger vine, is a Rosso di Montalcino (Banfi makes this one; it's REALLY good). Basically, any red wine with Montalcino on the label is going to made from these "baby Brunello" grapes and will delight you.

Cin, cin!

I'm a fan of white wines mostly. My husband and I visited a little winery when we went to San Francisco back in 1998 and got in their club. It was a little winery called Viansa. Pretty good.
Since then we've had two kids, and end up getting cheaper stuff most of the time. I have found a North Carolina wine that is really good. Duplin. It's in the grocery store at about $7 per bottle. They use muscadine and scuppernong grapes. I like it because its "local", kind of sweet, and has nice pictures of Hatteras on the labels. (Really, it is a good wine!)

Has anyone tried Charles Shaw cabernet sauvignon? I've yet to try it. Trader Joes sells it for for $1.99. Yes, that is 199 cents. Cheaper than a gourmet coffee. Even for cooking that's a bargain.

Yup. The two buck Chuck isn't bad and a great buy at $2.
Haven't tried the Chardonnay. The Merlot is a bit too sweet but the Cabernet is excellent (for the price).

We prefer reds as well.

Yellowtail Shiraz and Merlot are both excellent. It's an Australian vineyard. They can be had on sale around here for about $6 a bottle. If you like Rosemont, you will like Yellowtail.

Rosenblum Zinfandel is another favorite red. (California) It's about $18 a bottle, but worth every penny. A literal feast of the senses!

When we drink white, we usually go with Cavit Pinot Grigio. It's light, but flavorful.

Rosemont, Blackstone, Pepper Wood Grove, Rancho Zabaco. All bottles currently in our rack. Good stuff!

Cheers!

I luv a good Pinot Grigio. But for you red wine lovers..if you can find this, you will have a gem on your hands:
Lenorio delos Llancos Gran Reserva 1994.
Made in Spain..Awesome!!
