Default Be careful at Goudy Honda (Alhambra, CA)!

Word of warning...

Took my Pilot in for warranty service (replaced left front strut) on Tuesday earlier this week. Didn't notice until earlier today, but I'm missing anywhere from $10-15 and maybe more (mostly quarters and dimes and a few bills) from the "not an ashtray" compartment. No one else has had access to the interior of my car.

I'm bringing it back in on Monday morning because, somehow during the warranty service, they managed to screw up my alignment. I'll be talking to the service manager about the theft. We'll see what happens...

Man, if I have to fricking take inventory of everything in my Pilot OR strip it out bare everytime I take it in for service, you can bet I'll be going back to my old dealership (Honda Hollywood).

My co-worker went there for service(oil change) last January and he lost all his quarters that is in the coin slot. He also suspect them of taking his cell-phone charger. My co-worker complained to the service manager and to the customer service manager about the theft and he even called Honda Corporation to informed them about the theft.

What a crock of Sh1t!

Can you ask your coworker who the service manager was that he reported it to and what the dealership did for your coworker?

F$%&, now I have to go and check through all my storage compartments...

Maybe you could set up a "sting" operation on the guys? Leave some coins and a couple bucks in the car, but take down the bills' serial numbers. Maybe throw in some kind of cheap costume jewelry ring. Later, when you pick up the car if they're gone have the service manager make the mechanics empty their pockets.

If the service manager won't do it, then you get on the phone with the Honda Rep and let them know the service manager's in on the crimes as well.....

I'd be seriously ticked....

maybe you can get local law enforcement or a news program's consumer advocate division to go with you undercover as a second witness or something.

worth a shot. these guys need to go down

the prices dealers charge for service is bad enough, but they have to steal your money on top of that?!

A sting would be the way to go but I'm too busy to set one up - it should be the dealership's responsibility. If I stood out there for a week or two on the sidewalk entrance to the service department with a big ass sign warning customers that their personal valuables are at high risk while their cars are being serviced, they'd probably get on the ball. I figure it's most likely one of the guys who wash the cars or valets them.

I'm definitely annoyed right now but not so annoyed that I'm going to take personal measures. Alhambra is a relatively mellow city but not so slow that petty theft vehicle (dealership, carwash, valet parking circumstances) would be the crime of the century. I would be extremely pissed if Goudy tries to downplay or kiss this situation off (which is why I'm very interested in knowing more about John's coworker's incident). They just made the news recently for conning and gouging non-English speaking (primarily Chinese) customers so one would think that they would take this situation seriously. Otherwise, a little media exposure would definitely help!

personally, i make sure i watch the work being done. i want to see my vehicle at all times, and have actually left one place that gave me the "sorry, insurance reasons" line. insurance or not, if i can't see my vehicle, i don't leave it.

My Honda dealer used to have a large sign warning customers that they were not responsible for the theft of anything from the car while it was in for service. I used to empty it clean every time I was leaving if for the day, but left the run of the mill stuff in during oil change services where I waited for the vehicle.

I haven't decided what approach to take yet with the Lexus dealer, but have so far left everything but my digital camera in the vehicle while the 1000 mile inspection and 5000 mile oil change/tire rotation were done.

Well, supposedly, my Pilot is ready for pick up - have to do it tomorrow morning. The folks at the dealership are taking care of me decently. They gave me a coupon for a free oil change (they also offered to reimburse me) and said that they would be looking into the matter. I hope they do. They also set me up with a rental car when the alignment job wasn't going so smoothly. They said that my 18" wheels/tires were interfering with the sensors on the machine and had to send it out to an alignment place. Oh well, we'll see how straight it drives tomorrow morning.
