Exclamation 3 Dealers in the Miami area.

My recent purchase had me dealing with 3 dealers in the Miami area. My plan was to deal with them by phone. (Use Honda's website to get the phone # for the 'internet manager' of each dealer.

I first called Maroone Honda in Hialeah and told them that I was ready to buy today if they could beat another offer. (A little white lie on my part ). To my surprise they beat the "offer" and confirmed it in an email .... $400 over invoice. Unfortunately the particular unit I wanted had too many miles on it, but they were friendly and professional.

I then called Braman Honda and asked them to beat the offer. They said they would consider it if I showed them the written offer I had already received. I faxed them the offer and they called me back saying the offer was too low and they wouldn't deal with me. I checked their inventory and they had at least SIX units with the config I wanted (and hadn't sold ANY in a week).

I then called South Motors Honda, and they immediately said they would match the offer, provided I bring it to the dealership. There was only 1 unit and I asked them to check the miles, he said 15. When I got there the unit had 22 miles and also had some hideously installed aftermarket faux wood interior "stickers". I was very upset but then decided I didn't want the silver color anyway, as I found it too light compared to other cars' silver. I fancied the sage brush, and luckily they had 2 on the lot. So I bought one. No haggling, no gimmicks. In fact, since their contract forms included a $499 dealer fee, they had to take that figure off the invoice price. End result is an EX-L sage for $400 over invoice and a 48 month loan @3.69%.

It wasn't perfectly smooth but I would recommend the dealership for honoring their deal with no "gotchas".
