Default CARMAX...Any issues

Looking to buy my first pilot (Honda car #5 for me) soon and cant afford it new :-(....So Ive been looking at Carmax.com.

Has anyone had any issues with purchasing from Carmax? What should I look out for. Is it any better than a dealer...besides having that sticker on the trunk.

Any advise, information would be great!

Thanks,

I have heard good things about carmax....though they can get pretty pricey themselves...whats your max amount you want to spend, what trim level do you want?

At least an '06 (I like the new look) and 2wd. Would prefer EX. Also BLUE or Green with Grey Int. (doesnt have to be leather, Ive got a 14 month old).

Nothing more than 26k.

Though I should wait till after July. Trying to get a CC paid off before geting into a car payment.

Hey, you could easily get a new Pilot. When I bought my 2007 Pilot exl navi I paid 29k out the door...I would get a few quotes from dealerships and you could get a 08 ex 2wd for 26k out the door.....they are offering exellent deals on new Pilots now...I would deffinetly go for the new in stead of carmax, they will charge you about the same price you could get a new one for.........

Agreed -- I was looking at a used Pilot, and ended up getting a great deal on a new '08. That was on 11/30/07, and now there are even better deals out there. In my opinion, you could easily get a new 2WD Pilot VP, or possibly even an EX, for $26k with no problem at all. Pilot sales have been down lately in anticipation of the new '09 model, and dealers are eager to sell what they have on the lot.

Default Just bought 2007 Pilot from CarMax

Yesterday I got a 2007 Pilot from the CarMax in Indianapolis.

Overall I had a great experience and actually was the best car buying experience I've had. The one bad thing (which is probably unavoidable) is the 8 salespeople that were waiting for us like vultures as we walked in the store. My wife HATED it- and was hostile the rest of the visit. But since I am in sales I empathize with the people just trying to make a living.

We paid $450 to have our 2007 Pilot shipped up from Texas- but it was worth it. The car only has 9,400 miles on it and is in perfect condition. I paid $22K for it- which I thought was good deal.

I liked our sales lady- but again my wife had a chip on her shoulder the whole time from being attacked when we first walked in.
