Default Hawaiian vacation

We set off for Oahu last Aug 14th to visit my brother who is currently living and working in Waipahu. He picked us up at the airport, showed us around where he worked and then took us to a sushi buffet. What a great first day!

Next we set off to go to our home for the next 10 days, a two bedroom condo at the Makaha Resort on the west side of the island.

Here the boys are enjoying the pool, the rainbow photos were taken as we drove up to the resort and outside the condo unit on the balcony.

We spent the next day at Pearl Harbor, a very solemn but very educational experience.

Each day we set out to do something different, which was not difficult to do in a place like Hawaii which is very diverse and has a lot to offer to any vacationer.

Our next stop was the lagoons at Ko Olina.

After a relaxing day on the lagoons of Ko Olina, we went to nearby Paradise Cove for a Luau.

Next stop was the North Shore, on the way was the Dole Plantation, we stopped there to check it out. The boys enjoyed the train ride, the maze and of course pineapple.

We drove further north until we arrived at Pupukea beach, where the boys tried out their snorkling skills at Sharks Cove.

Another day was spent exploring the east side of the island, we spent the day at Kailua Beach which had the smoothest white sands. The waves and the wind made for a fun day on the beach for the boys, we ended the day with a serving of shave ice for the boys and gourmet iced coffee for me and mrs borg.

Mrs borg and I decided to leave the kids with my brother while we went up to Daimond head. We made sure to get there early enough to avoid the crowd and the warmer temps.

One cant go to Oahu and not visit Waikiki, so we did. After a hearty breakfast at Duke's, we spent the day on Waikiki beach.

It was a great vacation, the boys learned a lot and enjoyed all the different activities. But all good things come to an end and we had to return home. That was not a problem, except that when we got back to the airport parking lot where the Pilot has been parked for 12 days, I discovered nasty gouges and scrape marks on the front right bumper from an apparent hit and run.

As usual in this situations, no witness, no video, no suspect info.

Not a good way to end great vacation but life goes on. I will get the Pilot fixed and make plans for the next great trip.

Great Pictures of the family and the sites. The beaches on the North Shore are my favorites. Nice and quiet without too many people. You can't beat Waikiki Beach for people watching though. Diamond Head is a good hike and the view at the top is awesome! Did you get some tee shirts for the kids at Matusmoto's Shaved Ice? They have some good ones. We also like to go to the swap meet at Aloha Stadium. A lot of good fun shopping with local flavor. BTW, where did you go for the sushi buffet? Glad you and the family enjoyed your vacation. We love Hawaii......Sorry about the Pilot, but as you said, life goes on.
