Default Calling AZ Pilot Owners

First, I am curious how many of us are in AZ. If you don't want to give out your city, then areas are just fine (by metropolitan or geographic).

Second, if there is enough of us, how about setting up a little drive somewhere? Just something short and fun. Kids and pets welcome, of course.

I'll start off... I'm in Scottsdale.

Northern Arizona. Make that COOL Northern Arizona.

How hot is it in the Valley? Its warm up here today so I can imagine what it must be like down there.

When we have this Arizona Pilot Club Meeting, let's have it up here.(G)

It was 114 on my patio yesterday. The same or higher today. Yup, it's hot

Up north sounds good, but where will you go if you're already there?

Just ordered our Silver Pilot LX, We should have it by the end of September.

I used to go four wheeling in my old Isuzu Trooper over at horseshoe and barlett lakes. Not the heavy 4W'ing. Just dirt, mud, medium hills, rutted roads and river rock trails.

I would be interested in doing some minor 4wheeling when I get it. Just to see how it handles.

We are in Phoenix where heat was invented.

We must have looked at every SUV on the market. We thought we really liked the Highlander until we saw and drove the Pilot. Ours will be here in Mid September. It's Sandstone with tan Leather. We haven't decided on any options yet. Any "must haves?" Can't wait for delivery!

Default "Arizona" Sandstone

WOW-A-MUNGO ... there are three of the four of us in Arizona with Sandstone. (tapping chin) Wonder if there is anything to it?

Let's all drive down I-17 together and confuse everyone.

Make it five.

We decided not to order the Silver.

We went for the Sandstone LX, w/towing package, roof rack, cassette player, rear splash guards, Cargo cover, and keyless entry.

We are thinking about ordering off the internet the cargo liner, cargo tray, and the separation net.

It should be at the dealership Saturday or Sunday. We are hoping to take her home monday or tuesday.

We got it!

Picked her up later than I wanted, about 4:00PM. It still needs the towing package and the bug deflector. The salesman said the bug deflector should be in later this week along with one of the coolers for the towing package. We will get them installed later on.

After seeing her sitting there, all shiny and ... how can I put this???

The word "Majestic", comes to mind.

I could not imagine that I got her without getting all the accessories. Now I have to wait for a while to get rest of her.

She seems so ..... incomplete.

No wonder most of this board seems to have the EX model. Maybe in a few years a second one could be an EX.

Now, as for the drive..... Fantastic performance. We took it to Carefree, just to see how it performed on the hills. No Problem. WE might go up to flagstaff tomorrow. Just to see how it handles the climb north of Black Canyon City and the hill at Camp Verde. But from what I've experienced so far, sail on through.

My wife works in an office downtown with one of those parking garages w/ fairly tight hair pin turning ramps in it. SO we took it there today. It went right up those ramps with no problem. Nice tight turns. The only thing scary was those ramps are fairly narrow and I thought it would rub on the sides of the ramp. but it handled so well it was not an issue. Even my wife didn't have a problem with it, although she was more cautious than I was.

My wife will be the main driver of the Pilot. I have a work van that I drive most of the week that comes home with me. So on the weekends and holidays I will be all the driving. Which is just fine by me.

My wife will also be taking our Isuzu Trooper in to work on alternating days. Just to keep the miles of the Pilot.

Just so you know how much we drove it today, we already put on a hundred miles. Since you live here in phoenix, you know how quickly the miles can add up in our city.

So it definately is worth the wait, the performance, the ride, the comfort and the feeling of pride is definitely awesome.

Well Copperpoppy, If I don't see you on the board tomorrow, congratulations! We hope you enjoy your new pilot as much as we do.

Wow - thanks for the update Tony.

You should DEFINITELY go to Flag tomorrow. Like you, I am curious how well it will take the climb on I-17 out of the Valley. My little Accord (4 cyl) has problems with it sometimes. (It's a stick and if I don't hit that hill j-u-s-t right, I'm downshifting forever!)

We're not in Phoenix - althought that is where I bought the Pilot. We live up in the high country -- so we will be hitting the hill on the way back home. In fact, depending on what time you head up north, its possible that I could see you on I-17. SO ...if you see a Sandstone Pilot on the road tomorrow whipping around Phoenix, I have the gold "H" on mine. If you see me -- beep and wave, ok?

BTW, if you head up to Flag tomorrow, find out what that gigantic plume of smoke is. I know there's a small fire up near Payson but the plume of smoke seems REALLY big.

Well, I guess I better TRY to get some sleep. I doubt if I will.
